I watched this video earlier, it's a very good video with a few statistics at the end...but- it's very heart wrenching and sad to watch what could happen if you leave your baby in the car in warm/hot weather. I have a 15 month old little boy, and this made me so sad...please watch it, and please keep your eyes open for pets and babies in hot cars parked in lots...please do not hesitate to call the police and break a window- you could save a life!!!!

wow, thanks for sharing this!!

it's so sad to see that children and pets loose their lives when it could have been prevented.

I never bring my dogs in the car if it's hot out, not even on a short trip, even if the windows are down, it's just too risky.

hopefully people will see this and remember

Yes, it's very disturbing how many pets and babies die every year for no reason at all. Thank you for leaving your pets at home when it's hot out, I wish more people would do the same.

Couldn't watch past the baby's hair starting to get sweaty as my heart starts to ache badly so don't know what happened in the video, but it makes me soooo upset that one would get so lazy as to not unbuckle their baby and bring him along. Nobody should be left in a car alone unless old enough to get out and come meet you at the store if you take too long (like your husband :)). :( :(

I had a REALLY hard time watching it and was crying my eyes out starting when his hair started getting sweaty.... One shopper heard his cries, checked the door handles- which were locked, but then she walked off. The second person to see him (passed out) took action to alert other people to call 911 and he grabbed a crow bar out of his trunk and broke the window and got the child out.

It's very upsetting that someone could be so absorbed into talking on the phone or whatever to FORGET that their child is even with them. How do you forget your child???!!!

THANK YOU for telling me the end! I wanted to know but can't watch it :(. Obviously it was staged, but I still can't watch when it involves pets to children. I would so alert police or break the window if confronted to this! (I have a window breaking device on hand in my car :)). It doesn't end well everytime though :(.

The RSPCA says to call the police if you see a dog, etc, hot cars as they're not able to legally break into cars to save animals.

Personally, I don't trust the police to get to me and the poor animal in less than 5 minutes (and who knows how long it'd been in there before I see it!) so I take the option of life before law and will just break in myself. I'm not having a dead pet, child, etc, on my hands because I might get into trouble with the police!

Yes, it was obviously staged, but they did a VERY good job (IMO) and it gets the message across. The very end the mom finally comes out of the store right after the gentleman pulled him out, and the paramedics showed up. And yes, not all situations end the same.. Most are too late :/

I drive hubby's truck which has lots of tools in the truck box, so I'd definitely be prepared to smash a window! :)

I totally agree!!!! If I'm put in the right spot at the right time to save a life, who cares about the legalities of breaking a window. And if someone gets pissed about their broken window over the potential loss of a family member- they have their priorities in the wrong order!!

If I had left my pet or something in the car; I'd fully anticipate (and appreciate!) to come back to a broken window and a living pet at the end of it. Some people just make my blood boil. I honestly appreciate accidents happen, but accidents cost lives and more often than not it's down to pure ignorance.

THANK YOU for posting this as a reminder.

My stomach's still in a knot over the video.

I still can't get over the sadness and anger it made me feel... My son is about the same age, or just a tad younger than that little fellow so it just hit home in my heart and I just can't even bear the thought of this happening to him :(

Him being silly earlier:

I have a day job where if I see any signs of child abuse I legally have to report it to the proper authorities. Does that mean that I want to call DCYF for every infraction - no. But, have I seen a situation where, maybe someone made a bad decision and left a sleeping child in a running car unattended while she ran into the store for just a second, yes! Did I wait for her to come back, yes. Was the child fine, yes ... will she ever do it again, nope, because my co-workers and I got our point across ...

Wow! I'm glad you watched and waited to make sure everything was ok-and I do hope she doesn't do that again!! I would be deathly afraid someone would steal my vehicle in that type of situation... I'm a bit paranoid about safety though lol I NEVER leave my child in the car alone for ANY reason!! If he's asleep, we go home. If we're getting gas, I use my card just so I don't have to get out and go inside.
