Yellow-sided Green Cheek Conure - Tiki, Green Cheek Conure - Dexter
So this morning... I was going crazy waiting for the vet app (everything is fine with Tiki btw :) Vet said she was beautiful and healthy!) so I decided to teach Tiki to forage since she didn't seem to know how.

I started by buying one of those rubbermaid containers like you would feed a big baby bird in and a puzzle. I put in a seed and nut mix and then covered it with puzzle pieces as well as some shredded Kleenex.

After a few minutes of moving puzzle pieces around and showing Tiki that there were treats to be had she caught on.... Success! The first hour of peace I've had with her playing by herself since I got her. I'm seriously going to study up on parrot enrichment and foraging... this independent Tiki is very likable!

Yep it keeps them busy. I use my boxes I keep beads in for forage sometimes. Have several other items and it really works and the parrots need it too. One time I took a towel and placed it on the floor and spread various foods and toys over it and that was good too. We can be so creative when it comes to foraging and our parrots. I read a book where a woman made a foraging station in her kitchen with various dishes and was even multi level. She had a medium size parrot tree with little baskets and paper cups and wrapped coffee filters hanging down with hidden treats.

Oh a foraging station seems like an awesome way for Tiki to have some fun! Might keep her busy too hehe.... I love her to death but sometimes I'd like her to not be nibbling on my ear or finger :p

That is adorable. What a cute idea. I'll have to wait until my birds are more settled ... too many new things still being thrown at them each day.
