We picked up the last of the rescues that came from the woman where we got the Pois last weekend yesterday, and thought I would share some pics of them. I won't go into everything that happened, but I will say that none of them had any water, or even water bowls this time.

The Sennies are only going to be here for a little while, until my friend who runs a rescue has room for them. The Sennie females head is plucked and she is terrified so I didn't want to make it worse by taking a pic of her.
The Derbys may go to her as well, she really wants to tame them down and they would be in a wonderful home with her (she would keep them). For now, I have named the Derbys Sri and Lanka. I need names for the Sennies for now, so am calling them Beau and Peep:)

We only ended up with 1 CAG, she sold the female to her neighbour and split up the pair. He cried for her all night, and is still calling for her but it is getting a bit better. He was someone's pet at one time, and can say several things. He talked to us all the way home yesterday, and says Step Up which is a good sign. He kept saying "Pucker up" this morning, made me giggle. He is plucked around his crop and I am looking forward to the vet checking him out on Monday (they all go then). He also had a toe broken at some point which healed really crooked. That same foot is completely missing a nail as well. We are definitely keeping this guy, and are calling him Justice (Thank you Karen for that great name!)

Great pics! I bet with good nutrition and regular baths they will be looking better in no time.

The wicker rings you have with Justice, my linnies love those things. I use them as swings.

Terry, I have no doubt these guys will start to look and feel better with a little of your TLC :)

So sad about Justice's mate . That's heartbreaking!

So if the Derbyan's and Senegals go to the rescue, you're planning on keeping Justice? You know, you do need a Grey ;)!

WOW !! thanks for sharing :)

What beautiful babies. They didn't deserve to be mistreated:( Glad they are in a better environment and I'm sure you'll make sure the ones you won't be keeping will go to wonderful homes where they will be cherished. So sad poor Justice lost his mate. IMO it's cruel to split up bonded pairs... Hope he doesn't get too upset about her being gone.

Bless your heart Terry. St . Francis surely will have a special place for you, once your work here is done!
Very lucky kids to be found by you!:)

That grey just tugs at my heart strings. I have such a soft spot for pluckers.

Welcome home, Justice! He's so pretty, I also have a soft spot for the pluckers. I hope he doesn't cry for his mate too long, that just seems cruel. I bet you did giggle when he said pucker up. Love the name, perfect for a grey.

Wow, I see just what you mean about the Derbys, they are gorgeous! Don't know if I could let them go, but at least they have a wonderful home to go to.

Little Beau and Peep, great names! Beau's a cutie and I'm sure Peep is too.

All of them must think they've found heaven, clean cages, fresh food, water, perches, room to move, toys, imagine that. And best of all, St. Terry to care for them. I'm about to cry.

Terry you are so wonderful to rescue these amazing babies. They are all beautiful and will continue to try thrive in your care. :) I am so glad you are able to keep Justice. Such a fitting name.

I love the Derbyans. So colourful yet not over the top. :)

Thanks for sharing! I got to go visit 2 of my rescues yesterday that have been with their new forever companion for about 6 months now. I know exactly how rewarding it is to do this sort of thing! Good luck! Keep it up please. so many of them need homes :)

Yay, they've made it home!! :)

How are they all doing this morning, and how did the vet visit go??

LOVE the name "Justice". :D

They are beautiful, Terry! :)

Thanks for giving them a place to call home!

They all seem to be eating now, and most are eating the veggies as well, which is awesome. The vet appt. was rescheduled for Wed.because of some kind of emergency, but they just called and it is now tomorrow..I am having trouble keeping up..lol.

Justice is saying more and more, and is not really afraid of us when we get into his cage for feedings. He is such a cool boy. I really wish she had not taken his mate away:(
I was also able to feed the Meyers today without them trying to take off a finger, I like that kind of progress. They all seem to be getting a little used to it here now, and are not quite as afraid.

I honestly have to say that those Red Bellied have stolen my heart...they are such gorgeous, calm birds (at least these 2 are calm).

Awwwww. Such a great story. You are an angel, Terry. I feel so badly for Justice having his mate stolen and sold. It's horrible. What is wrong with people !@#$#$%^ !!!

I wonder if the neighbor that bought Justice's mate even knows that a pair was split up, and how her girl is doing? Maybe a possiblity exists for a way to get them back together.

Just a quick update on the new guys. The vet visit went well, I am still waiting to hear back the results of the panels, but the vet thinks there will be no bad surprises.

Justice is a big boy, he weighed in at 492 grams. She does not think he is overweight, just big. She ran a throat culture on him because of the area around his crop being plucked, but it came back negative. She thinks it is related to anxiety, which is completely possible. He is not calling for his mate as much anymore, which is great because it was so sad to hear. The people who have her know that I will take her if they decide to get rid of her, so it is just a waiting game. I was glad to find out that the pair were only together 2 years instead of the 10 years I was originally told. What breaks my heart is that Justice was someone's pet before he was sold into breeding, he talks all the time and has not even tried to bite us when we get into the cage. Please, when rehoming your beloved Fids, make sure they are not going into a breeding situation. It makes me shudder to think of him being thrown into the situation he was in, after being well loved at one time, and given the attention he obviously was given in a previous home. He is 17 now according to his band, and I have no idea how long he has been used as a breeder.

I am a bit obsessed with him now, he is so smart! He picks up things he hears from another room and says them, it's crazy.

The Derbys and Sennies are going to a new home on Sunday. My friend owns a rescue and is planning on keeping and taming the Derbys, which will be wonderful for them. She already has one pair and I think they will be incredibly happy there. The Sennies I am still deciding about whether to keep them or not. They are an older breeder pair, and I may just decide to let them stay. We are figuring out what is in their best interest.

I will update as soon as I hear back about the panels:)

Hows those rescue zons ?

Hows those rescue zons ?

You mean Ki and Cally, the ones we got back in Feb?
They are doing good, plucking is still an issue, but it is not as bad as when we first got them. They eat well, and have finally started playing with the toys in the cage:) Cally had bene playing and chewing for awhile, but Ki just started a couple fo weeks ago...I almost cried:)
I will have to update with some pictures, thanks for asking, Terri:)

Also, a quick update on the new guys...they were all vet checked and had panels run, and I should hear today about what the panels showed. The vet did not expect to find anything, though, so that was good news.
Justice, the CAG, is a big boy, he weighs 492 grams, but she said he is not overweight. We could read his band and he is 17.

The Derbys and Sennies go to their new home on Sunday, and I am going to miss them:(

So Justice is seventeen years young, I hope most of them were good ones and I have no doubt the next years of his life will be very happy. He is a big boy and so handsome. I can tell you've really fallen for him already.

I'm sure you will miss the Derbys and the Sennies, but at least you know they are going to a good place and you'll be able to hear how they are doing. You've done a wonderful thing for them by getting them out of an awful environment.

Looking forward to a good report from the vet.
