Obviously Kiwi has had toys, but I really hadn't gotten around to fully decking out his new area. I also wanted to add a t-perch inside the JB for him, as he had yet to go in it. That seemed to do the trick! I spent about 2 hours today setting everything up. Ya, it's a tad messy ATM, but he's happy:)

Cage, play tree and a sky gym! I ordered a extra large shower curtain to cover the wall (and protect the thermostat inconveniently located behind his cage) and to give him something nice to look at since there really wasn't a good window to put him next to here.

Don't I just look like I'm in my natural habitat?

I have been largely turning my beak up at me JB, but mommy put a t-perch and a piece of cheese inside. Hard to be stubborn when there's cheese involved...

Is there any more cheese in here? You mean I climbed in this thing for one measly piece of cheese?! I am appalled!

There are seeds in the foraging cup up here! Woohoo!!!

Now, you would think if he can climb down his boing and contort his feathery little butt like this with no problem whatsoever that he could climb down the stairs:20:

Wow!! April, Kiwi is one lucky boy, his new set up looks amazing! I love your shower curtain, we did that in our little bird room but I like your curtain better than ours.

So cheese finally got him in the JB? I never realized how big that was until I saw him in it.
Everything looks amazing .

April that looks AMAZING!!! Well done, I can see kiwi is really enjoying his new digs :)

April, Kiwi's new room is top of the line! Kiwi always looks so healthy and happy but he looks like a King in a brand new castle in these beautiful pics. Your creativity and skill with design is inspiring.

Wow, what a set up! I have a green check right now and have recently put my deposit on a beautiful baby yellow shoulder amazon. I was wondering about the toys I should get and your baby looks to be having lots of fun, I never knew they liked those Giant Balls. I may have to get one now seeing how happy your Kiwi looks in it! Do you have any advice about amazons? I've been reading a ton and watching tons of video but have never experienced an adult one. I'm so looking forward to all the personality they have.

Wow!! April the set up looks great :D. It's so perfect. I also love the idea of the shower curtain. Perfect that you found a rainforest one for an Amazon!

Kiwi now lives in a five-star hotel!! Beautifully set up and appointed, so many cool toys!!

@ Kiwibird : Loved the shower curtain idea brilliant, looks very good and I hope you gave Kiwi another piece of cheese for all that effort LOL? what a lucky bird!

Lol. Amazons and their universal love of cheese:rolleyes: He even goes for the non-dairy stuff. And the JB is HUGE! I was even surprised when we first got it. It's the 14" one.

Thanks! Not too much new for him. Only thing I had to buy was the curtain and rod, but I had fun using all his stuff, especially some toy parts I haven't used in a long time. I'll post pics of the rest of the new place soon too :)

Congrats on getting an amazon! They are fun birds. If you are getting a baby, get a variety of different types of toys to see what he/she likes. And get him started young with foraging/self rewarding play. If they aren't challenged enough or given toys they don't like, they have a reputation for becoming "perch potatoes". They also like being included in as much as you can. Very social, curious parrots. One thing to know about amazon is they will hit puberty around 5 y/o. It can be a challenging few years until their hormones settle down and they mellow out into adults. They also need to be socialized, interact with a lot of people and enjoy going out in reasonable weather (on a harness or in a carrier). If you don't properly socialize an amazon, they can easily become a one person bird who is very defensive of their chosen human. Socialize, socialize, socialize!

Wow April, that's an awesome set up! Kiwi must absolutely adore it! And who can say no to cheese? I know I certainly can't :D I love the shower curtain too.

Very very nice. Kiwi is quite the lucky boy!! Very impressive. Im working on a similar setup for my amazon. May I ask where you purchased the plastic links hanging from the ball. I have looked and looked online and cant seem to find them. Again....fantastic job!!

WELL?! How about it Jim? Amy is not amused :green: She would like a pretty pink butterfly themed bird area and BB would like an "Australia" theme:D

Those links are always for sale at Petco and Petsmart here in the continental US. Not sure about where you are though.

They have a large and small size, Kiwi's are the large size.

Ohhh I love, love, love the pics & set up. The shower curtain .. I am definitely stealing the idea lol and now have more stuff to shop for :)

I didn't realize how big the ball was either! Wow.

Awesome job I could stare at that all day :)

Thanks for sharing

Thank you, I am planning on socializing a lot! The place I'm getting him from is very good at it and they also crate train and harness train. I plan on having him out of the cage almost constanly, with the only time being in the cage when I can't take him with me or at night. Do you take Kiwi with you a lot?

Wow! I thought my birds lived in style! Kiwi has an amazing set up! Don't tell MrC I saw this thread, or he'll be mad at you guys for all the ideas now brewing in my head.

And Amazons and their love of cheese is just something else. Our YN, Goofy will do anything in the world for a piece of cheese. Want him to dance the macarana while twirling an umbrella and top hat while riding a German Shepherd? Just offer cheese.
