R.I.P Kiwiberry, GCC.
I ordered some things for Kiwiberry last Friday, picked the wrong payment option so it took ages, but it's all finally here!

1 large boing, 7.8ft when stretched and has a .7" diameter.
Way bigger than I expected :p
It goes from the ceiling (where there's supposed to be a lamp) to her playstand.
Anyone got ideas on how to attach toys to it? I managed to put piece of a millet in there to get her to get up on it.
I was really surprised to see she didn't care when I put it up, considering its massive size haha

Anyway, I also bought 1.1lbs red millet (She just won't touch the yellow ones, barely even acknowledges their existence! She loves these though :D)
Also bought 10 thin sticks she can chew on, if I'm unable to hang them up somehwere I'll just cut most of them in half and/or thirds since she'll only chew on foot toys, and they're too long for her to hold properly.

AND an aviator harness!! I cannot wait 'till she can wear it comfortably and it's warm enough outside! (When is warm enough for a short walk? I'm really eager :p)
I started watching the DVD and looking at the illustrations on the folder the DVD was on, SO CONFUSING! I can't figure out what goes where!!
I'll watch it after dinner instead when Kiwiberry is tired, easier that way lol :p

Exciting!!!
All this was $75, so not too bad at all! Now I just need PVC pipes and fittings, rope in different diameters and some plastic and wooden beads.
OH, and those metal things to attach perches to the cage, but that'll have to wait 'till I can find some good wood.

Kiwiberry will be very happy!

Hard to give advise without seeing the goodies, but a bit of creativity goes a long way with bird toys and accessories. As long as you don't attach things with dangerous/hazardous materials all should be well. Just make sure to supervise her for a while when playing to ensure she doesn't think outside YOUR box of safety!

I think I'm happier than her to be honest, she's just playing with an old pen cap!
She should get more into the new stuff once she's gotten used to it being around though.

Yeah, I was just thinking of putting stuff in there that she can chew up, like millet, some of the new sticks I bought, those should be safe, but like you said Scott, I will be supervising her.
I'm gonna try to put up the 'barrel of fun' foraging toy I bought a while ago, I just need a good spot for it, that too was bigger than I thought it would be, I guess I can't picture the right size in my head when reading measurements lol
That too should be safe, but you never know, birds always seem to manage with the impossible in one way or another...

Wow, what a large boing! My birds go absolutely crazy for boings:) I would love to see pictures!

Yay! Kiwiberry is going to go crazy with a bunch of new things to play with and explore.

Sounds awesome!! I bet she will love all of it!!

To attach toys to a boing you can use zip ties and cinch them really tight around the rope, or you can attach them with the existing clips on each end.

Yeah the boing is massive, especially for a little GCC, but I don't mind spoiling her ;)

I already put a stick through it, I'll have to make sure it's not in the way so she can still climb the rope though
Tomorrow when it's light out I'm gonna do the decorating of it.

I'll have to buy zip ties too then, I never even considered using those, thanks!

Zip ties are super cheap, and very versatile!! Lol

You'll have to post pictures after you get everything set up! We want to see the goodies!! :D

Yeah, and I could probably get them even cheaper, my uncle is an electrician, if he doesn't already have loads, he could get some really cheap ;)

I'll try and get some up tomorrow, but this isn't even a quarter of the way done from what I've made up in my head! Gonna have lots of rope from the ceiling with foliage, gonna have a PVC playgym with toys and a net, gonna have several nets scattered around the place, gonna get a little tree that I can keep indoors that's bird safe.
It's gonna be like a damn jungle!! :D

I walked into our room (is that weird, calling my bedroom 'our room' 'cause Kiwiberry is in there a lot too?) after dinner last night, couldn't find Kiwiberry.

Until I looked up, guess who's worked her way to the top (well, almost) of the boing?! She's staring down at me and flies to my shoulder and does some happy chirps with the head going everywhere. Then pulls her head back and out with the chest while doing low, slow chirps, sort of like laughing, then a pause and a loud high pitched chirp. She'll keep doing that.
She does it when she sees her own reflection too, so I'm assuming it's a way for her to show off, right?
Do females show off too, or just the males..? Can't find much info on that online.
