Kiwi the Peach-Faced Lovebird
As a few of you (Although since I posted about another bird type before, you most likely won't be in this forum) might know, I've been looking for Conures. So I went to the Local Avian Store, Golden Cockatoo. There I found that Conures weren't the right bird for me. Luckily for me, two employees brang me to the lovebird cage, where we found three baby lovebirds. One hopped onto my hand and I instantly fell on love with the adorable little guy. Or gal. Not sure what gender he/she was. Anyway, the baby Peach-Faced Lovebird was a month old and I was one of the first to feed it without the siren (I think that's what they're called). I played with Kiwi, as we've named him/her today, for a couple hours until we had to leave, and we bought him/her. So now, we have to wait a week before he/she is weaned so we can take him/her home. But that's not too bad-- we get to visit Kiwi every day!

The store is really deicated and they only employ people who've had experience with birds. They also offer three guarantees: In the first 5 days, we should take Kiwi to the vet (An avian vet and an animal hospital are located a couple meters off in the same strip-mall.), and should Kiwi have anything wrong with him/her, Golden Cockatoo, the Avian Pet Store, will pay for the visit and medicene. If not, we must pay for the visit. Also, in case we can no longer afford to keep Kiwi, they will take Kiwi in. Furthermore, should I ever have to go on a buisness trip (In the future, of course) or vacation, they can take care of Kiwi if my family cannot.

I look forward to spending time with Kiwi and getting help from the four main sources I trust for knowladge on birds: Golden Cockatoo, Avian Vets, About.Com, and the community of ParrotForrums.
Thanks!
Charles ST

Pictures are still buffering. Old camera- takes amazing photographs but it takes so long.

If any of you live in Broward, you can come see him at GC, he's number 760 (They all have small, lightweight cuff-things on their feet with their numbers.). He's the sweetest little fella.

congrats! i want pics of kiwi! i was like that when i bought cooper. couldnt take him home yet. i acually paid when he was like 4 days old. so i had to wait like 2 months. since the store is like an hour and a half away i could only visit once a week. the store i got cooper from offered similar garuntees. they board them. and i get 3 free groomings a year(includes clipping wings, nails, and if they need it filing their beak). good luck. dont forget pics!

Thanks! By the way, I posted the pics, Mrgoogls.

And luckily it's about 20 minutes from my house so I visit it every day I can, apart when it's closed or when I went on a 2-day trip yesterday and the day before yesterday.

He should, a bit. And he's still a baby.

Only probem is he's fairly nippy, but his bites don't hurt at all.

Kiwi is adorable! You're lucky to have such a good bird store so close. We have NOTHING like that here. You are going to have so much fun with that little birdy!

Not only do we have a bird-specific store, we also have 2 animal hospitals (With one of them having an avian vet), 4 Animal Shelters, 3 Reptile-Specific Shops (Although they also carry bats, amphibians, and arachnids), 2 Pet-Supermarkets (Don't trust 'em.), 1 Pet-Smart, and 1 Pet-Co within 30 minutes of my house. There's also about 4 different stores that specialize with fish but they're about an hour away each.
