Kiko hit the wall

So Kiko hit the wall in my room because he was startled by something, more than likely a wrapper. He flew around, and then hit the slanted wall in my room. I would like to think a slanted wall would ease the hit slightly.

The reason I am posting this is just to get some recommendations on what to do.

He is acting perfectly normal, he was not dazed when he fell. He fell like a foot or so. He is acting completely normal, so nothing is out of the ordinary. He didn't even seem dazed. He drooped his wings, though, about 10 seconds. If that is anything, though he always does that after he flies around.

I have no car until 12 or so hours until now, so I really cannot bring him in. Do you think he should be fine until then?

Mine glance off the wall occasionally when they fly. I've never brought one in since it's never been a worrisome hit. If he wasn't acting weird and no blood I wouldn't be concerned.

He seems to be acting fine, and there was no blood He hit it face on, and slid down the wall slightly, and landed on my basket about a foot below where he hit. He didn't act dazed, and once he landed, he immediately walked away, hopped on the perch I offered him, and slipped inside his cage.

When I first got the RB, I got some good advice from an experienced bird person. She advised that I take him around to every window in the house and encourage him to tap it with his beak, or even to push him againt the pane so he would get the idea that it was "HARD AIR". I also just took him around to various walls and did the same thing. I believe it really worked well!

Sorry Kiko had an accident. I would watch him very carefully for any abnormal signs of distress, including loss of appetite, awkward movements, unusual sleepiness. Chances are high he is just fine, and you would have noticed trauma such as a broken leg or wing. More concerning would be a blow to his head that may cause swelling - a critical condition that must be addressed ASAP. Please keep us updated!!

She advised that I take him around to every window in the house and encourage him to tap it with his beak, or even to push him againt the pane so he would get the idea that it was "HARD AIR". I also just took him around to various walls and did the same thing. I believe it really worked well!

Thanks for sharing an excellent idea!! Will have to try this with some of my occasional flyers!

Those are great ideas! I think he knows that he can't fly in them, but it seems like he can't control his flying that well. I shall show though!

Everything seems to be fine, he's preening and chirping, eating fine, playing with his toys. Tapping on his mirror. If there would be some sort of head issue, when would I notice it if he is not showing signs of anything right now?

Guys, I have scare myself silly! I looked a bunch of things up, and now I am PETRIFIED! There is no way I can bring him to the vet. There is no car, and I will not get one until later tonight. And there are NO emergency avian vet clinics around here, for hours, if not, our state!

What should I do? He looks normal, but there are stories where they say they act fine until they are practically dead. GAH, is there ANYTHING I can do so I don't feel so helpless?

Kiko is doing relatively well. Nothing has changed with his behavior, I believe. Perky, though I can tell he wants to go to bed now, because it his bedtime. I am too afraid to turn the lights off and cover him, so I have just covered part of his cage so far.

I also put a mirror in the cage for him, so he is singing to that.

It's hard to tell, though, if his wings are drooping. I mean, I don't think they are? They are not crisscrossed in the back, though. But I mean, I rarely see them crossed like that anyway.

great tip, Ive done this Perjo a few times, with mirrors and windows. I also let her get an idea of what a window is with a blind and one without.

Mine know where everything is too but when they panic they don't always have the greatest control. Unless you are my female conure Monkey...she has some crazy flight control! Can look like she's going to crash into the wall at high speed but then at the last second drop like a rock making a sharp turn either way....she crazy lol

I had one very hard hit but it was a conure. My male Monster. He hit so hard he was stunned. Wings splayed and dropped out and feet tightly clenched. It took him about 5 minutes to start looking normal and a little longer to get balance back. He hasn't hit anything since and was fine but it definitely was panic at the time! They are surprisingly hardy.

If you are still worried I would take him to the vet for your peace of mind at the very least!
