Hi my name is Kelly and I am new to owning anything more than a budgie.
Recently had a green cheeked conjure who is brilliant.

My budgie and conure over the last few days have become very naughty friends.
Flappy the budgie is an older bird I rehomed but wasn't keen on people
Larry the conure however has changed all that and now flappy will come and sit with us as well.
Flappy has taken to flying into Larry's cage with him though and stealing Larry's found which is a seed mix will this harm the budgie?
Flappy does have his own cage with his own food and water
Should I be discouraging the birds from being in Larry's cage sharing his food?
Any advice I'd greatly appreciate.
Also appreciate advice on Larry biting, currently we tell him gently "no biting" and put him down ignoring him when he stops biting we praise him.

Welcome to the board.

have you thought about converting both birds onto the same diet? Feeding fresh foods, pellets and maybe a few seeds and nuts as treats or on the side? Conures and parakeets will both do well on this same type diet. If their buddies, it will make it easier, as they will likely want to try what the other is having.

Hope we get some pics of the cuties.

Hi Kelly, welcome.
Definitely support advice from Mimsy01 re feeding and if they want each others food it will make it so much easier to convert them. Sounds like you are doing OK re biting, if it's too much a time out in his cage is in order. He prob won't like missing out by this happening so might encourage him to stop.

The conure Larry isn't at all interested in the budgies seed but the budgie flappy seems to love Larry's food. Both cages stay open when they are out as well but they both seem very content in Larry's cage.
We were concerned Larry would dominate but it doesn't seem to be happening

We do put him in time out when he bites hard but he is only 9 weeks and we only got him on Friday so I think he's doing excellent.

Hi again, if you can change and improve your birds diet it will def help them. I have had budgies in the past and there wasn't the advice etc around at that time but in hindsight I really wish I had fed him/them more fresh foods as he had fatty tumours. Pellets were not available either. If you have a look around here at your leisure I'm sure you will find plenty of really good info. It also helps with time and cost of feeding if they are being fed the same.
Yes, you are right @ 9 weeks he is doing great. Can you share some pics - love to see them both. :)

I don't know how to add photos on here using my phone but I think I've set up an album with a couple of photos in.

I have often offered flappy foods but he's been so anti social. His last owners never allowed him out or interacted with him in anyway
Since Larry arrived though he's an almost different bird we can stand near to him now and he will sit with me. He won't allow touching yet but I'm hoping it will improve

Thanks for the advice

They are both adorable. Flappy is adorable, I bet you are right with a little encouragement from you and his new friend Larry he'll come around to being an awesome friendly pet.

I'm not sure of the budgies age but even if he doesn't become tame enough to handle the fact they get on and enjoy each others company is enough for me.

We were debating on whether they could be housed together safely in the one cage as it is quite a large one. It does seem this maybe a possibility as they are currently sat cuddled up perched on the TV together

Thanks for all the advice
