Well, I had tried to let him decide when was the right time for his first bath or shower, and Kane was taking his good ol' time figuring it out...But he was born in September, it's almost January, and Kane was, well...FUNKY! ☠☢☣ You get the idea...
So I pushed the issue, well, he didn't have a say in the matter at all. I couldn't take the smell of old baby bird hand feeding formula combined with old, musty moth balls and newly added mashed sweet potatoes. So we tried the bath tub first, with about an inch of water up to his knees maybe, and we had a complete freakout. You would have thought I was drowning him. I think the other birds thought just that because Bowie, my green cheek conure, had to fly upstairs, land in the hallway outside the bathroom, and come waddling in to see what was going on...Nosey little bird...
So it's pretty apparent that I need to get a larger shower perch, Kane didn't like the shower at all, but he stood there and tolerated it while I lifted his wings up one by one to get underneath each of them, and even when I lifted his tail up to make sure his little birdy butt was clean (dirty looks)...
Right now he's milking this for all it's worth, getting cuddles, scritches, and eating dried mangos, papayas, and banana chips, no doubt getting sticky, gooey fruit all over his nice clean feathers...
So pathetic...
