Anyone dealing with lightening when it strikes close to the house?

My birds went on a fly thru the house after a big KAAAA BOOOM!!!

Not funny for them....Poor things. Do they make Bird ear muffs to block out the Kaaa Boom??? I can shut the curtains to block the flash that startles them.

Oddly enough, my Red Lored amazon appears to be fascinated by lightning. She sits in the window rain or shine anyway, and watches the world go by. But with her, with thunderstorms her beak is pressed against the glass.

It's lightning flash... tail flair and eye flashes... lightning flash... tail flair and eye flashes...

And that Amazon trance like, "can't take my eyes off it" thing happens.

Don't ask me why.

Mine have all been startle trained. Loud noises rarely bother them.

For some reason helium balloons do, though... something about the motion of them I think. None of my guys can be around them.

It was storming when I left home. Have a few pass over here at work. Just keeping my fingers crossed BB does not freak out home alone

You mean, before the pizza gets there... cuz pizza freak is just a given!

And if she is freaking out, pizza makes it all better! :D

MMMM... PIZZA!!

LOL Pizza is tomorrow night. I love cold Corona with a Pizza and do not drink on a work night so TOMORROW is pizza. LOL
Suppose to storm every day till Sunday here. Sunday mid 60's. Glad kinda for the rain. Pollen is bad here.

We had some lightning/thunder here the other day. Kiwi could care less. At most he makes an "offended" goose honk (his favored noise). That's probably because he "grew up" in Arizona, where the annual monsoons had TERRIBLE thunder and lightning storms. I don't know too many birds from areas where they've been exposed to it their whole lives who are frightened by it. Even my mom's easily spooked birds don't give about lightning/thunder. They just hunker down, as if it is about to rain indoors:p

Well, my oddball birds like to go outside and watch the fireworks...

So a little thunder? meh.

Poppie isn't usually scared of it.....but this one hit like right outside the window flash and very loud kaboom at same time....Heck made me have to change my britches.

Not to mention a brief loss of power. The rest of the birds jumped as well.
Usually loud noises don't bother them. And yeah, they hate balloons as well.

Illinois was also hit pretty hArd yesterday. Had a pretty big tornado touch down 80 miles north of chicago. It is that time of year....

Both the birds here seem to care less about storms. Now the garbage truck, that thing is something to be really feared! :)

Yeah I heard that on the news....we are just across the pond (Lake Michigan)... over in Michigan and weather was a bit nasty. Wind is like 50 MPH out there.

Tornado's are no joke...Been in two...when one touches down, you have very little time to get everything you need and animals, to basement...like maybe 2 minutes. That's a very small window. Tornado's are strange, it took out our barn..Which was 30 yards from house, but never touched the house....Took the big corn picker used to pick the corn in fields about a 1/4 mile away, but left the fridge that was 10 feet from it untouched. Tornado's just are nothing to question, you take cover and fast.

Tornado's never used to bother me, untill I was in one. Was out in witchita Kansas one year and the day we arrived there were 5 tornado's that ripped thru there that day...never forget it. One was like an F-5....big ole tornadeee...!!!

Warnings being issued here for tonight. 60 mph wind expected. Issue where I live is we are 15 ft off the ground up on pileings . Great for all the water during hurricanes. Last one put 5 feet of water under the house. Lost all autos but we stayed dry for the 3 days we had no power.
