Monte..Scarlet macaw, Seminole...yellow napped amazon, Starburst... sun conure...Rain, cinnamon green cheek.
Its a white breasted or bellied.. at my wife's work.. Wow.. Its so heavy compared to our sun conure.. And its so cuddly.. Lol.. Turns out it's a she, so they named her shasta.. 1300 is what they want for her though...:eek:

Why so much??? Then again.. They want 600 for sun conures..

But she's very playful, beautiful and so cuddly... I'm trying to fight it... Lol

Hi I have 2 blkhd caiques. The white bellied [I think dont have as many chicks] like sunconures so are more rare. I want to say I paid 800 for mine and the white bellies were a 1000. These guys are fantastic thats why I have 2. I have a sunconure also .Caiques are very strong minded little birds . They will go to everyone in my house, hearty eaters and very loving. They can even say a couple words . Cute when they like something they squeal.I always recommend them. :D

I agree, I've never wanted a caique because all the individuals I've met are very high maintence because their owners played with them too much as babies. You really need to teach them to intertain themselves.
Pet stores do over price them. A sun conure can be bought for half that price. I think the caiques are normally around $800, but don't quote me on that.

I love caiques big feet :)

Thanx guys.. But i do t think they could be that much more work than the rest of our growing flock... Could they? I know they're aggressive little birds..

But she was oh so sweet :) this one is so tubby and just a hoot to watch her hop and walk..

About the heaviness.. My GCCs are SO much lighter than my sennie, and they're the same size! I wasn't prepared for it, lol.

Lol, I think they can be great for a parrot person. They get a bit of a bad rap since they're sold at Petco and inexperinced parrot people buy them often. I think with your flock you won't have any trouble raising a caique :)

I haven't met many Caiques, but I have to agree with Cooperarabian that try probably have a bad rap because the wrong people take them home. An experienced bird owner like yourself shouldn't have a whole lot of trouble with any species because you already understand how parrots tick. I think a lot of animals (not just birds) get terrible and unjustified reputations because people who have no interest in understanding or properly caring for them have negative experiences and whine about it.

I forget that everyone doesnt always have their birds on a schedule. I suppose if they were not they could be monsters. I hate when birds get bad raps and what the internet does to us .Whats the internet say [well their beaky] .The shape of their beak when they were younger was easier to take than my sun conure [but thats my house] The caiques and the lory are the best ones to keep themselves occupied [big wide cage ,swings ,toys and LOTS of foot toys.] Their downfalls, very strong headed if they get something their not supposed to have] Good luck getting it back LOL.Can be aggressive towards other birds [mine dont share a playstand with the other species].But you have birds like mine -macaw ,zon and sunconure.I know how different these birds are from the ones you have and you will love them:)

Yeah our birds have taught us that a schedule is important for the bird and it's/their owners.. Our birds get up with us and we all have breakfast after my wife and I work out,

This gives them an hour on their own cages to socialize.. Sing in the sun rise and do their thing..

We all eat breakfast, then mommy takes on first shift of playing while I work.. She does the snack thing and spends time with each of them as individuals.. Monte typically is with me, Starburst now prefers to be with her...

Seminole wants to be played with, and then goes to her cage with her toys and talks all day... If you ignore her, she Flys over to you.. Lands and looks at you.. You look at her and she says hi.. Lmao.. She's such a smart a$$.. I love her.. Lol..

The keets are similar to Seminole . They stay on their cage, fly around and sing... They'll interact and let you pet em.. BUT they're very self sufficient.. The rest of the day they frolic on their cages and with us as they and we see fit.. Dinner with the family at 6, bed for them all at 9..

During all of this we are constantly cleaning cages, floors, sweeping moping, running to and from meetings and appointments, feeding, watering...

So as all of you know.. We never have a dull or restful day :) except Sunday..

We get up, clean the cages, feed, water, play.. Then sit around the house passing birds lol.. That's our relaxing day..

Sounds Like My House :)

I have both BlackHeaded and White-Bellied. They are huge instigators, and are like tornadoes going through the house. They are bullies, raid all the other birds cages and push everyone around. They rarely back down, even from the bigger parrots.
They want to play all the time, even if no one wants to, they will keep bugging to play. My flock is pretty docile and gets away from them if they don't want to be bothered.
However, the smaller Conures (Green Cheeks) WON'T BACK DOWN, so I let them out separately.
I used to foster both a Jenday and a Sun and they got along great with the Caiques, being roughly the same size can withstand the abuse! LOL

If your Sun is easy going, you won't have a problem.......watch for the parakeets as the Caique will try and rough them up, as well as watch for the Macaw as they could fight if the Macaw doesn't have a sense of humor!

I love caiques, but never had one. Before i got Georgie my sun, i was thinking of a caique or a senegal, but suns were more readily available. I know they sometimes get trashed a little as big trouble in a small package, but really, my Georgie tended to be that way too! :)
