How much do grey's cost where you are from?

I found a BEAUTIFUL girl today who I fell in love with!! I would have brought her on the spot if it wasn't for the $5500 price tag. I could have sworn I've seen them sell for about $1500 in america?

Looks like I'll just have to run to the bank and get a loan so I can bring her home :p:p:p:p

Thats alot of money!! We can get Greys here in the UK for £500.00 which is approx $1200 :(

Yeah I thought they were higher over here for some reason. :( Sucks lol!! That seem's to be the average price around here. She was so adorable, she kept putting her head to the cage for a pat and I sat there for ages talking to her and when I had to leave the followed me to the end of her cage & kind of looked at me like awwww can't I come? :( hahahaha I wish!! :( </3

This is a picture of her. AWWW Look, how could you resist her? :( Haha.

That's crazy! I think I'll move to the US hahaha! :P

I must admit she would be very hard to resist :) Is it a pet shop? Pet shops here cahrge double to what you can buy them from a breeder!!

Isn't everything very expensive in Australia? It seems on my motorcycle forum I see them paying quite a bit more as well for cars and motorcycles and related accessories. Your dollar is high compared to the US as well.

But, hey, I wish we had your weather!

I know, look at her sweet little face hahaha <3 Yes she is at a pet shop but they only have birds :) A lot of the normal pet shops out here over charge big time, but this place is pretty good with their prices, and I did a bit of browsing when I got home and I actually can't find any cheaper then that, but even so, I just want this little girl! Hahaha. I'm begging my partner but in all honesty I don't think I would have the room for another big cage, we are only in a small place. :( Grrr she needs me LOL! I'm sure she will go to a wonderful home though.

That's true, things are usually expensive here, I went to the US last year & went on an insane shopping spree because I was shocked at how cheap everything was! But from 850 up to 5500 ... crazy stuff Lol!

Oh trust me you do NOT want our weather hahaha its horrible!

CAG's in Florida cost $999.00 and TAG's you can get for around $799.00.

I admit, I'd probably find it on the hot side, but that sounds good compared with the cold we've had the last 2 days. It would be nice not to have to deal with snow anymore.

I wouldnt mind giving your weather in Australia a try for a few Weeks :D Its freezing here :(

My Son is out there at the moment for a Year working !! He went last Sunday. He rang to say its boiling hot and hes getting eaten alive by mossies lol. I miss him so much :(

I had to rush Merlin to the vet yesterday on the coldest day we've had yet. I think we had been on the highway for all of 4 miles when the semi in front of us hit ice and went swerving out of control all over the road. One car had to go into the median to keep from being hit, and we darn near were as well. About 2 miles later, an RV did the same thing. It was pretty nerve wracking with one of my babies in the truck with me.

And it was getting dark on the way home and snowing a lot more. The wind was making white out conditions. I just wanted to get her home safely!

So yes, yesterday I think I would have much preferred Australia!

I am so happy she is eating right now. Actually she has been eating pretty much all morning. I'm waiting right now for her to finish it all to make sure she got all her meds. I wasn't certain if I would have to run her to the vet again for tube feeding or not this morning. She started out just picking at stuff, but she's been going to town for the past hour. I need more Nutriberries to put those meds on. I had put some on toast for her as well, but she knew they were there and threw all the toast out of her bowl right away after tasting it. She doesn't like the tropical fruit Nutriberries that I had here. She also needs much larger ones than the conure size with as many meds as she is taking. The little porker weighs 470 grams!

How can you say no to that face! what a cutie!

I paid 1050 for Kevin, honestly, after having him for a while, i'd have paid twice that for such a wonderful guy.

That is one super cute birdie. You might have to have loan papers drawn up immediately. ;)
I'm adopting Milo and not paying anything near that and he comes with a cage and big tree stand.
I have seen TAG babies go for $800-ish and CAG babies for $1200-ish around my area though.

We do have snow & Ice in some parts, but it probably wouldn't get to as cold as it does where you guys are from. I must admit the summer has been pretty tame.. No 45 degree days yet lol!

Wenz it's a good excuse to come visit Australia to see your son hehe ! :)

Trust me I actually was looking up loans last night & trying to work out my finances haha!

Last time I saw greys for sale was at the bird store I got Bob from, I go in for "free" nail clippings. They used to have a pair of greys, one at $800ish and one at $1200ish. The only differance I could see was the included cage. The cages were the same size, but the one that came with the $800 grey was a bit beaten up. They were both large cages suitable for the greys.

There are only a few breeders in Australia that breed exotics. Only a few pairs were imported so untill more are bred the price stays high. However the price is slowly coming down. $4,000 to $5,000 from a private breeder.

African Greys are very cheap in Africa. A friend from that country had one & it only cost her $250 AU. When she got to Australia she wanted another one & almost dropped dead when i told her how much they were.

Yeah its a hugeee price change. I figured the price would slowly come down, I remember macaws being around the $15,000 mark when I was young! If only the price would come down now, for this little cutie :( Haha.
