Thanks for allowing me to join! 40 years ago I decided a good way to care for and be around animals was a PT job at a pet store. That began my love of the feathered ones and over the years included Parakeets, Budgies, Cockatiels, Love Birds (Black Masked & Peach Faced), Dove (just once), Blue front Amazon, Yellow Naped Amazon. In 2012 I had Caesar (Blue Front) for 5 years. When my son's came back from Iraq OIF & OEF with PTSD & one with TBI they couldn't take loud sounds and Caesar was picking up their anxiety so made the hard decision of letting him stay with my in-laws. Fast forward to now. Took 10 years to recover from losing one of my sons and I was ready to have a feathered friend again. I didn't have the heart to ask for Ceasar back as he and in-laws grew to love one another but they are getting older so one day. I was never into Conures but after researching saw we were perfect for each other. Did I mention adopting a daughter with CP mid point? A conure seemed perfect for her too. The search began & we found Fred (turquoise GCC) who was amazing but tragedy took him. We were broken hearted. For my daughter's sake I began searching for for another Fred and we have now had KiKi Cheeks (yellow sided high red) for a month. I have so much to learn and love reading the threads here.
