Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure- Zoey
Hey everyone, in anticipation of me getting a Green Cheek Conure soon, I thought I'd have a little fun and ask what everyone's favorite color mutations are! I know anyone that has a GCC will probably say whichever one they have, but lets try and see what really is the most popular one! So, out of these 6 colors, which is your favorite and why? :D

1. Normal

2. Cinnamon

3. Yellow Sided

4. Turquoise

5. Pineapple

6. Yellow sided Turquoise

I really love pineapple and yellow sided turquoise . Pine apple because it's so bright and colorful. Yellow sided turquoise because it looks so elegant and shimmery

I love pineapple turquoise green cheeks, any nice blue green cheek really, also love some unnamed ones like pearly, painted, black capped, maroon bellied

Pearly, painted, black caps and maroon bellies aren't green cheeks...

Common colors of green cheeks

  1. Normal
  2. Cinnamon
  3. Opaline (Yellowside)
  4. Cinnamon Opaline (Pineapple)
  5. Turquoise
  6. Turquoise Cinnamon
  7. Turquoise Opaline
  8. Turquoise Cinnamon Opaline

Not so common ones (not including mixes)

  1. Misty
  2. Grey
  3. Dilute
  4. Recessive Pied

Our cinnamon tirquoise GCCs are not too common, they get a lot of complements. We did not pick them, they picked us. LoL

I LOVE the yellow sided... but I'm obviously biased. Oh well, I love 'em anyways. =D

I'm surprised at how spread out it is so far, it really shows that everyone can look at the same thing in a different way. My favorite is definitely the Yellow Sided, and I hope that's the one I get. I love the brighter colors, and the reds and yellows in them are just amazing. Keep 'em coming everyone, I'm curious to see if there turns out to be a clear cut most popular or if it stays even across the board.

I vote for yellow sided. I love the colors and contrast of colors:D

Turquoise!! Just a tad biased....lol but its also my favorite color next to purple......;)

Well I think it's obvious what the answer is...THEY ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL LITTLE BIRDIES!! Lol, thanks for the responses everyone, interesting to see what everyone likes in their birds. Here's a quick question on my personal favorite, the Yellow Sided though. I've noticed in a lot of pictures I've seen that some Yellow Sides, and some Pineapples too, have a lot of red in them, while in others its nowhere near as much. Most notably, I see several pictures of YS with red all the way up to their cheeks, but others that have solid green cheeks with no red nearby. I haven't been able to find an answer so I'm wondering, are the ones with the green cheeks the more juvenile birds, and the red cheeks are the adult versions, or is that just the random disparity in each individual bird?

Neither.

The birds with high amounts of red have been specifically bred to have that amount of coloration in them. Kind of similar to the "red factor" sun conures, without the deadly gene.

Ah, gotcha. But what's the "deadly gene"? That's the first I've heard of it.

When you breed two red factor sun conures together, the offspring have a high chance of death and not many double factor reds make it to adult hood.

It's known as a "dominant cumulative fatal gene", aka a lethal gene. I don't really fully understand it myself, although I understand the basic concept of it and how it works - to a degree.

I haven't seen this (i.e. lethal gene) in any other species.
