Just curious: reactivity during molting

Parker’s got a FUN behavior going on right now: he is painfully reactive to things in his environment, screaming at the slightest movement through the window, or even is getting up from the couch.

He’s going through his annual heavy molt right now - looks like a bird exploded in his cage, poor thing - and while he doesn’t usually get moody during molts, but this timing is...curious. And he is slightly off this year.

Anyone’s birds become more reactive/vocal when their molting (not just moody, but specifically motion detectors and alarms). Can’t say I’ve ever heard this before from anyone else, but figured I’d take a poll here.

That is a new one on me. Our Julio can become moody during a heavy molt, but not to a point that if there is the slightest movement he would respond.

Hmmm, Packer could be opening an all new behavior here! May want to consider patenting it?

Maybe your bird is feeling vulnerable because he has lost so many feathers.

I have never seen that sort of behavior with any of my birds. At most I notice a lower energy level, more napping, and a general grumpiness.
