Just an Intro to say Hello

Hello , I just wanted to introduce myself properly to everyone, I'm Carol and I chose to join because I recently acquired a 25 yr. old Umbrella Cockatoo named Charlie. I needed some advice and thought this might be the place to come too.

Thanks for the welcome, as soon as I can get a couple they will be up, I just got him two days ago and he is very cage aggressive and not very social. I can post some in a bit.

This is not my first, My first umbrella cockatoo was lost in a divorce, and I have also had quaker parrots before. This guy seems to have been somewhat neglected for his first 25 yrs. of life, he does not talk, his wings have been horribly clipped to the point that I'm not sure if they will even grow back properly. He is terribly cage aggressive and bites , won't step up or even let you put your arm in the cage for that matter. He hisses constantly at my fiance, not sure if it's because of his beard or not?, and he was on a seed only diet. I was told that he won't eat pellets , but I've started him on fresh fruit and veggies with his seeds in hopes of slowly persuading him to expand his diet. He has taken to grape tomatoes a little, some of an apple, he tried my fiance's banana this morning, so hope is alive that he will take to pellets eventually. I will just cook for him every day, no biggie.
