My anger has finally bubbled over and I now feel the need to rant about it. I recently saw a short announcement on the news that stated that Justin Beiber's pet capuchin monkey had finally found a new home in Germany. For those of you who do not know, Justin had the monkey confiscated because he did not have the proper vet papers and now after about 2 months, the monkey has found a home in a zoo. I just don't get how somebody can buy something like a monkey and just abandon it because he didn't take the two seconds it would have taken him to get the monkey to a vet and get the proper paperwork. That poor animal probably never even saw his 'owner' because he was too busy doing shows, but at least he was a little acquainted with him. Then he is dumped at an airport in a strange country and left with strangers while his owner decides his tour is more important then his commitment to his pet, and is never heard from again. Can you imagine the physcologcal damage that would have on a macaw or other parrot if he was abandoned? Why didn't he just leave the monkey home with a babysitter who would no doubt give him more attention then his owner did? The worse part about all this? Justin already has bought another monkey.

He probably couldn't find anyone to watch the monkey for him because monkey's are nasty and can be very mean and dangerous. I'm wondering if he even had a permit allowing him to own the monkey in the first place.

You have to bottle feed your monkey baby. Getting one already handraised can cause behavioral problems.

Not that I like bieber or think it was the best decision he made for the monkey, but it was gifted to him by a manager as a present. I want to slap that manager. Pets make horrible gifts, especially pets as complicated as monkeys.

I havent read anything about beiber getting a second monkey.

Justin Bieber...such a sad thing for that monkey...the capuchin is probably more intelligent than him! Not that I hate him (or like him) though. Anyway, i'm sure he will end up with a parrot... probably a moluccan cockatoo like Cee Lo Green has.. Cee Lo's bird is literally painted... and last year he sat there and showed it off to the world...not mentioning all the self-mutilation and noise they can make...celebrities...

When monkey's get hormonal and turn a certain age, they can get very mean. They are nasty, they will fling their own poop at you. My brother owned one years ago when you could still buy them at pet shops. He had to get rid of the monkey because he became too violent. So no, I will take a bird over a monkey any day and twice on Sunday.

I know it seems dumb but i am generally bothered by the "trendy" pets some celebrities get, almost to flex their muscles and show off. And it's not like they don't have the resources to be sure the animal gets what it needs.
Actually i think i'm bothered by 'trendy pets' in general. I don't get it--trendy dog breeds?? really? I don't even think you can get a pet based on the one who LOOKS the best but the one who fits with your home and family.

They require dedication, love and understanding and tons of commitment and resources to be happy.

I don't like things labeled "mean and nasty". As nothing is mean and nasty on a behavioral standpoint. Labels don't do animals any good.

Monkeys belong in the wild, in a zoo and NOT in a home as a pet. They should not be attempted to be domesticated. Some animals are wild and should stay as such. Monkeys belong in a troop.... of other monkeys!

You can say the same for many animals these days and I'll agree for the most part. You can't override instinct and many many years of evolution just by giving an animal some tlc and a 'good home'. Some animals are easily adaptable (wild caught parrots doing well in homes, etc.) but given the chance they should stay wild.

On the only term I am comfortable with a celeb owning high care pets like monkeys , parrots , ect ... Is if the pet has a whole habitat with personal servants to care for the pet and vets on stand . Because no matter how much he wants to care for it by himself he will NEVER be able to balance his career and his pets needs . It's better if he hires professionals. I agree , with celebs to me it's kind of a status symbol what kind of pet you own . Michael Jackson owned giraffes . When was the last time you saw a world famous celeb owning a mixed breed ? All purebreds . Heck , some even own personal ZOOS ! Justin's crazy , he started drugs. , can't believe he's a role model for some girls
