I just finished this book written by Howard Voren. The book is about his memoirs in Central and south America collecting amazons and macaws. Howard died last month and i miss him. I'd heard some of the stories before and even met some of the parrots in the book. Willow the giant scarlet, one eyed Jane who help the small plane clear the trees at the end of the runway by flapping her wings. I never heard the stories about being shot at and interrogated by the secret police or meeting nazi war criminals. A very good read , i couldn't stop from opening the book to finishing(335 pages). I don't think you can find it in hard back but e-book is only $1.

Thanks for the tip, Captain! It sounds like a very interesting book.

After reading about him, i understand why i liked him. If you love your pet parrot, this is about the man who helped make that possible. Every parront needs to read this book.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will definitely get it. I'm sad for you missing your friend.

I started reading the book today and I love it. It's fascinating and great reading. Thank you henpecked

Howard was a truly unique character. I only met him once. Heard him speak a couple of times. Called him for his expertise once or twice way back in the day...

Do you happen to know what is going to happen with his aviaries? Who is going to take over for him?
