RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
June is a month of contrast aboard Planet Earth! Summer in the northern hemisphere, Winter in the southern. The contest for June is to create an image with your bird highlighting elements of seasonal weather. Please ensure the safety and comfort of your fid if taken outside! Because there are more northern members than southern, you are *not* restricted to your locale. Photoshopped or similarly manipulated fantasies are welcome!

The contest opens June 2 and closes June 27. A poll will publish June 28 and the winner announced July 1. One submission per member, and of course "just for fun" entries are appreciated. Winner receives a one year premium membership, and their photo will be displayed on the forum home-page for one month.

Scott, I LOVE your theme for this month, as well as the examples you chose. I can't wait to see all the varied entries!

Wait, what Quakers! All I saw was two beautiful Blue-Fronted Amazons enjoying an afternoon rest! Oooh, those Quakers.

Great Idea for a POTM contest Scott. The Photoshopped versions could really take this in any number of interesting directions.

Great POTM idea, Scott! A thread where summer and winter can be celebrated under the same theme! Looking forward to the variety of entries sure to come through.

Just for fun!

Well, it stays pretty sunny here in winter, save for the chilly winds and rainstorms in the southern part of the country lol.... the coldest it usually gets in Cape Town is around 7 degrees celcius (45ish fahrenheit) and in Johannesburg where I used to live, there was no rain in winter but it would get A LOT colder (0 celcius, 32 fahrenheit, sometimes a bit lower). Still no snow though, lol! Although, according to my parents, there was a huge snow storm in Joburg in 1981 for a few months, which is pretty crazy lol. And when I was a wee 9 year old in 2006 I remember it snowing very lightly during winter. Other than that, weather is pretty awesome here! Perfect for when you have an outdoor aviary, because we just use some covers around the aviary and two heat lamps to keep the budgies warm and dry...so if I enter a just for fun it'll have to get quite creative to represent winter, maybe rain is the way to go haha...

momo is a big fan of fluffy blankets, warm pjs and mum's warm face in winter

Beautiful entry! Fluffy blankets, warm pj's and mum's warm face. What more could a bird want on a chilly winter morning?

Bonus just for fun, back in Summer taking the birds out to the garden with me!
