Sun conure.
Hi i purchased my first bird from a local bird store. He was sold to me as a sun conure. I waited for two months to wean but would go to the store daily zto bond with him. Well i finally got to bring him home the other day and i took him to the bird fair we had yesterday and had three people tell me " you have a beautiful jenday." I called the local bird store and asked if he was a sun or a jenday and they said sun but wasnt 100% sure. It doesnt really matter to me as i love this little guy but would like to know. Here are some pictures, tell me what you think he is. Thank you.

You would know more once he matures a bit...When they're young, both look very similar!!!

Yes, i agree, so hard to tell when they are very young. My sun had a LOT of green when she was young and she was definitely a sun.

To confuse things even more, it may be a hybrid Sunday. Is there any way of finding out who originally bred the bird?

Like others it's hard to tell young, but. Jendays usually have more red on the underneath of there belly and under their wings. Yours is showing more orange, so I think it's a sun......

GORGEOUS tho :)

Thanks for the replies everyone. I talked to one of the ladies who works there and she said she thinks its a hybrid between a sun and a jenday. The owner said she would call the breeder Monday and ask for sure. It doesnt matter to me as we spent two months with him at the store bonding while he was weaning and my family has gotten attached to this little guy.

Looks like a young baby sun conure to me!

Pure jendays should have more yellow to the face and a much darker stomach, even as chicks. Found a photo for comparison.

Even hybrids would appear more jenday than sun... unless they aren't first generation hybrids.

Looking at his head, neck, chest, belly, leg and tail, your bird reminds me a lot of my sun conure when he was a few months old. Your bird's wings have a lot more green than mine did. Yours have a more even green all over the wings, mine had deeper greens and blotches of yellow the closer it got to his neck.

But a lot of sun babies look different from each other, you won't get to see their real colors till 7 to 12 months of age. If I had to take I guess, I'd say sun conure.

Ive looked at a lot of babies too and I believe Sun conure as well... He is adorable!! A lot of babies have ton of greens at first!

I have a baby sun and jenday, yours looks like a sun. Mine are only about 6 months old, but my sun has already started getting some yellow on her back, a jenday won't. Not sure how to add pic to this or I would show how mine has started changing already.
