It is not uncommon for most Parrots to not like stuff just showing-up! Most prefer things to come quietly into their World and with time work its way closer to them.

Pull the new Java Tree to some outer area and over the next six weeks allow it to slowly find its way back into your Parrot's World. With time it will likely loose its Radioactive Status. :D

Agreed. In his world, it is a large, intrusive, potentially hazardous invader. Once adapted, I'm sure he will enjoy the extra climbing space and opportunities for entertainment!

Yep, thirded, new intrusion. The way you get past this is Train him to have positive associations with it around. Put his favorite treat in a couple places on the stand. Give him his favorite treat when even being in close proximity to the tree.

Also, when you put him on watch how he moves. Java trees are sandblasted to be crazy smooth which can create perching grip issues. Itā€™s a big challenge especially for eclectus owners since ekkies have weaker grip than other birds. If grip is an issue you can wrap the branches in vet tape to help improve traction.

My CAG rarely uses my java tree and I have had it for over a year.

Most of my birds accept it now but I modified it.

I clamped a Manzanita branch to one end. Gives them more room to move around.
