Question time...LOL

Are the java tabletop playstands really as good as I am hearing? I love the way they look but they are super pricey and I don't want to throw my money away. I could make something similar out of pvc cheap but it's just not going to look as nice. Seems these things are just the cats meow of stands...lol

So, what's your real world experience with them?

My conures have one and they love it! They climb all over it. It's like being in a tree for them! They are pricey, but in my opinion worth it. And they look really nice too.

Well, I couldn't turn down the deal and ordered this one...

I've heard lots of good things abour www.mysafebirdstore.com ...between that and over half off the java tree stands, free shipping, AND 10% off I just couldn't say no! LOL. Went ahead and picked up a few treats and a pound of bountiful harvest blend for Cody to try.

I expect you will really be happy with it. What can be better for our birds than an actual tree? I want to get one, too, before that sale ends.

Found this online...

The Java Tree is a natural tree perch made from a single coffee tree of
25 to 35 years of age when the tree becomes non-productive. Each
Tree is handpicked as less than one percent of the coffee trees suitable.
These trees then go through a series of painstaking process and handcrafting till
perfection. The finished perch becomes a beautiful addition to your home and
most importantly, practical and fun for your bird.

Wow.. okay, I knew these perches were terrific, but that just sold it for me. I didn't realize that it was not only a real tree, but also a means of reusing/repurposing something. Instead of just cutting down the tree and wasting it, they actually do something useful with it!

I really need to get one or three of these :D

Wow, I just looked at the one you bought on the site and you got a very good price for it well done. I wish they were that price several months ago when i bought two of them. Your bird will enjoy iit very much! Oh, and enjoy cleaning the additional mess! :)

My wife tracked it and I believe she said it would be here on Tuesday...can't wait to see what cody thinks of it. He's really started coming out of his shell the last few days and talking up a storm. He has 5 or 6 words and phrases he repeats constantly and a bunch of mumbling we can't make out yet. Jennifer said he looked at her the other day and said "Cody's a very VERY good boy" and it sounded just like she was the one that said it. Lol

I have the table Java stand I ordered recently from MSBS. It's in the kitchen right now so Jasper can be out there with me when I'm doing dishes or fixing his foods or whatever. He's getting used to it but this morning kept slipping and hanging upside down on it like a bat. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, he was trying to climb to a portion of it that was yet unexplored.

Java Tree Table Top Stand Medium - JAVA TABLETOP STANDS by MY SAFE BIRD STORE

I think was the one I got. They are nice and portable and it's alot easier to use that if Im in a different room because like my GCC, Jasper doesn't sit well on my shoulder.

I imagine these stands get quite messy. How difficult are they to clean?

I love the Java stands , but think they are way over priced. I did buy a small table top one and it was like a stump with hardly any limbs for my green cheek to sit on . So I ordered some grape wood branches and made my own stand (actually hubby made it) and my green cheek loves it .

Mr. Precious loves his. He sleeps on it every night. I have a tabletop one now but am going to upsize soon.

I was thinking of getting one as well - but need to see if they are in Australia as several companies don't ship here.

The other alternative I was thinking was making my own - we have several gum trees and bottlebrush trees here, but I'm not sure how I would go about treating it though.

I want one so that I have a perch for my (future) macaw to sit on when I'm at university in my office without having to wheel in a giant playstand. I have a feeling that chances are it will want to hang out with me at my desk, but I'll still need a dedicated play area for it.

I have been scoping these out too but notice the small size are sold out at MSBS. I have seen other websites were they are cheaper but not sure if they are the same. What is the brand of the trees at the MSBS? The ones I've seen that are cheaper are the A&E ones.

Wish I had seen your post sooner. My hubby and I were looking at the grape vine stands and manazita and of course the java. The only two complaints I've heard about the java is that over time they loose grip and become slippery therefore some come sand blasted and then of course there is the price. Therefore to save hundreds and thousands of dollars we got crafty and built our own stand. Below is the link to pictures. It cost one days research and talking to neighbors to identify trees in a local wooded area and determine if their safe and then one day of cutting down trees and limbs (happened to be cold and rainy :X )and screwing them together. The actual cost- $10 for a thick wood base, $4 in linoleum for easy clean up on base, and $5 in decorative trim to help hold down linoleum. So $19, one day of research and one day of work, versus over $1000 for a stand built that large. The only difference besides price: not fancy imported wood, yet safe wood.

Parrotmamma, I love the stand you made!

I agree that they are very attractive! My Pionus only has the cage that came with him. It's plenty big for him, but the curved top is about at my eye level, so it's hard to reach Bolo. Besides... it looks so confining!

I wanted to try a Java stand to use as Bolo's daytime crib, so I figured I would get the tabletop size first before splurging on the floor model. I ordered it from MSBS this week. The smalls were sold out, so I got a medium. The best part is that they were on sale, and I am very happy with the price!

I should receive mine the middle of next week. Can't wait to try it out and see if Bolo likes hanging with mama while she works!
