Hello everyone,
Jasper has started bluffing (start of last week). he's not all that bad, compared to what I've read (and seen). He's only bitten me 3 or 4 times so far. I've been extra careful in reading his body language, and most of the time been able to distract him from biting me, or been able to put him down somewhere (still close to me) of course he gets treats for not biting. He's pretty well trained not to bite, usually he just moves away or put fingers in his beak and lightly presses down, (no pain), if he doesn't push the finger away.

Jasper also came to class with me (we have cages, pens, ect - for a range of different animals) it was about 3 weeks ago. I spent the 4 weeks prior getting him used to the travel crate (a cat carrier, or whatever it's called - i found 3 of the same all called different things). He was a little nervous to begin with (as expected) but settled down after a few minutes. he was a bit louder than usual (not sure if it was because there were lots of new people, it was a new place, or something else entirely different (he got plenty of treats from everyone though).

I've also been working with him when it comes to my brother (he really doesn't like him... not sure why as he's fine with my dad, step-brother and friends) but tonight my brother was playing with him with one of the bird toys (without getting bitten) and because Jasper was so good, I got my brother to give him some treats (brother thought giving the treat was pointless).

I love how he's completely into everything I do (it's one of the things I love about IRN's... well mine anyway). like tonight he watched me drink from a water bottle, flew over, tried to open it (had a bit of a tantrum because he couldn't) and demanded I open it so he can drink from it (only water). it made my whole day! :D He's super active (since he was a baby) which is great (but makes it a little hard taking photo's because when he see's the camera/phone he's all over it, or trying to be)

When he went in the travel crate (before leaving)

Coming home :D

Just misted down

So sweet! Jasper is so lovely and adorable, and it sounds like he's settling in well! IRN's are amazingly intelligent and interactive. His face just looks so sweet, like he's smiling all the time [emoji4]

IRN's are also awesome in the sense that they are so honest in their body language (for the most part). I've had issues in the past with Shiko lunging without any clear signals, but he's never once bitten me. I think it has to do a lot with how he was raised at the breeders, though. And honestly, sometimes they just don't want to get along with certain people. They're kinda of funny that way - as "promiscuous" birds, their loyalties to different people can change quite sporadically. It makes them relatively easy to socialize as long as you can overcome their tendency to be a bit phobic of new scenarios. I'm glad he had a good time with your brother eventually though! He looks so happy with his lovely new home [emoji4]
