Jasper Sick During Car Ride

Hello everyone,

Jasper and I just drove from Montreal to Ottawa (approx. 3 hour drive) and I just arrived home. I see what appears to be clumps of digested food, not sure if it's vomit or what.

Could this be car sickness? I've never seen this before. Thank you

I think it is just car sickness. Lilo used to throw up in the car and my friends Moluccan Cockatoo always has tummy issues in the car. I didn't know this either and of cores I freaked out but soon to realize that it was indeed just a little car sickness So that should be what it is.

Thank you I feel so bad. I hope he'll be ok. I'm just getting his cage here all set up so hopefully after a sleep he'll be feeling better.

Aw, you couldn't have known, Katie. I've actually fed Maya and Bixby during car trips! Until reading this thread, it hadn't even occurred to me that a bird might get car sick.

Its ok! And Im sure that even if he didn't eat, he probably still would have gotten sick. Its really sad to see but it happens so don't beat yourself up! Ok? You did what you needed to do and im sure he will be good now in his new home!

Thanks guys Jasper was himself in no time eating like a little piggy. When we drove back on Saturday he was fine, no car sickness

Wow, I had no idea birds get car sick. Who knew! Oliver goes for long trips with me all of the time and totally loves it. He talks and sings the whole way. The one thing he does do that worries me is he will NOT move his bowels in his carrier. When I open his crate when we arrive to our destination I hold him over it and he drops quite a load. We are in the car a good four hours. One time there was a car accident and I was in my car in traffic for an additional four hours and he again did not soil his space.....
