This is the first time I have never had a young bird so I am not familiar with their behavior. My 9 month old male Jardine is out spending time with me while I type this. He sits on my hands with his wings drooping and wagging his tail. He is also making some kind of sound and attempts at regurtitate. Any ideas to what he is doing?

If I understand it correctly, it's the poicephalus's mating dance.

It sounds like it. Just remove the bird or distract it. Never punish or you'll damage your relationship with the bird. It happens to me with my sennie from time to time, but it's pretty easy to snap her out of it.

Thanks - thats what it is. Both my males are being very friendly and cuddly. If they regurgitate(sp?), i just put them down. Otherwise I am enjoying the extra attention. My CAG (both females) are not showing any signs or behaviors similar to the POI.

In our house we call it the 'klucky chicken' dance based on the noises that are made. We just remove the bird from our hand and usually that stops it though i have seen the 'klucky chicken' dance persist in the cage for a few minutes.

you are so right. Things have changed again and now both jardines are VERY territorial and dont like it if you come near their cage. Its a good learning experience for me as I have never really experienced that.
