I've bought a solar light bulb for my sick budgie, how long should it be turned on?

Hi

I've already written about my budgie before, but for those who don't know, my budgie caught an bacterial infection more than a month ago. At the same time he started limping on his left foot so it was not looking so good.

Thankfully, my bird survived the infection and he started using his left leg fully again (it was just from trauma).

Still, he has watery droppings (looks like polyuria). He had these type of droppings when he had an appointment with the vet, but the vet told me he didn't find any bacteria in them.

We don't have much sun in my appartment, so after doing some research about light bulbs that imitate suns energy, I've decided to buy one (not 125W, but 80W though): REPTI PLANET SOLAR UVA/UVB ALL IN ONE ? Repti Planet
I've read the sun's/solar energy helps with the metabolism etc. https://homekeethome.com/2017/06/23/budgies-importance-full-spectrum-lighting/ The distance between the bulb and perch where my budgie sits is aprox 70cm (less than a meter).

Does anyone else have experince with this solar bulbs? What are the recommendations for using them for birds, how long should I keep the light on? I've read somewhere sick budgies should be exposed at least 8hours a day. For instance, a healthy budgie should be exposed to the bulb 3 hours a day ...
thanks!

'Solar Light Bulb(s)' is only the latest in a long series of methods of extracting hard earned money from individuals. With solar power being the 'IN' technology, why not take products that have been sitting on the shelf, place it in new packaging with a new name and make a bunch of money on something that sells for half the money at the big box stores.

If you still have the box, return the product!

UV, daylight, bulbs in LED form simply screw into standard light fixtures and provide the same 'color' as this overly expensive solar light bulb.

Setting your budgie in a window that allows Sunlight into your home will provide far more for far less than these bulbs ever could.

Also, never use reptile products for birds!

1000% agree!
Well worded, with just the right amount of restraint!
