Isn't it passed your bedtime?

/ Valentine - African Fischers Lovebird (Hybrid) /
So, here we are on, on a hot and muggy Monday eve. I had a long, tiring day at work, which left me in a less than tolerant or pleasant mood, so only spent an hour or so with my handsome little Lovebird, Valentine. Oh, well, he certainly wasn't having that. That was a few hours ago, I had cuddled him, kissed him, fed him dinner and a while later, around 8:00pm, put his little birdy butt to bed...

WELL! That was the plan. An hour later, I had a ravenous, hyper little lovebird, dying to come out of his cage. So, of course... spoiling the little angel (BRAT!) I allowed him to come out of his cage and cuddle with me. And then let him sit on my laptop as he often does. Well, he didn't just sit on my laptop tonight and sing. He was running around my laptop, playing peek-a-boo from behind it, trying to pry my keys off. He even managed to put my browser on fullscreen which took me a good 5 minutes alone to figure out how to undo... (F11 if your little feathered friend ever gets you into that particular situation.)

He was running up and down my back, on my butt, down my legs to my feet and back again, just having a grand ol'e time. He's usually not so playful, but I guess he felt it was necessary to spend more time with me and keep my attention all on him. I'm glad he did. I feel so much better that I spent more time cuddling and playing with him. It's amazing how these sweet little birds with such intense attitudes (Chihuahua syndrome much?) can make a person so happy even on the most wearing days.

So, finally... At 10:15pm, I put my little Valentine to bed, to which he happily and willingly hopped into his happy hut with a few quiet peeps good night. I love how my little Valen can be just as vibrant as the feathers on his little wings.

I just felt like sharing this pleasant experience with my little tot with you all...

So, my questions is, does anyone else have any sweet or exceptionally loving experiences with their feathered children? :) :rainbow1:

Your Valentine sounds like an adorable little character. I just got my new little Fischer's Chiku. She has been pretty wary of me for the past week and I have been spending time just talking quietly to her and sitting my hand in the cage to get her used to me but she hasnt come as far as to sit on my hand yet. Was cleaning her cage today inside as I know it's not the most secure when the tray is removed. Sure enough, despite my best efforts the little ratbag wormed her way out and started flying around looking really quite pleased with herself. I finished setting up her clean cage and gave her new food and pegged her cage door open hoping she would get hungry and return to it on her own. Well, a few hours later and that didnt happen. I decided to get a cloth and catch her because my brother was waking up and he is none to particular about doors.

Well, after she led me on a merry chase of the house for 5 minutes she got through the blind and got stuck between it and the window. I caught her and decided to hold her for a little while hoping that she would calm down in my hands and realise that I am not to be feared. I was quite suprised when I started scratching her head and she started falling asleep. She is now nestled in the coocoon of the cloth and I am not even holding her anymore. She is just curled up all comfortable like over my heart having her little baby nap. Occasionally she looks up at me and I talk to her quietly and she goes back to sleep. She is such a sweet little baby.

well this happened at a pet store because i dont have birds. the store had baby GCC out, pin feathers and all, for people to socalize with, dont worry they weren't for sale. they were still to young to steadily perch but one climed on my finger. i pulled him to my chest and scratched his head for 20 min while he fell asleep. eventually i had to put him down and leave :(, he looked so bewildered and shocked when i put him down i felt so bad! it was so precious though :)!
