Sorry this might be obnoxious  [ its my Macaw in the background too]. Ive always heard how loud these guys are. Tequila is the only zon I know. Does yours sound like this? If so ,that's not bad at all.

I wish one of mine sounded like that! That was the sweetest thing ever:) I will try to get Dexter on video tomorrow morning when he is going off. He is soooo loud:(

It DOES sound like Tequila is singing lol. He sounds a lot like my moms DYH, it's almost a melodic noise. Do you know if he was captive-bred or wild caught (Lucy is a wild-caught). Kiwi doesn't make the "pretty" amazon noises like that :(. He honks like a goose and has one of those "deter people from buying a bird" screeches when he's mad.

Tequila was wild caught :D I guess I have no clue what zons sound like . The loudest of my bunch are the Ekkies [they sound like fog horns]

Oh yeah, Ekko is also very loud! I think it is more Dexter's pitch than anything that hurts so much.

I THINK it's a noise pattern they learn in the wild. And that whole throat fluff thing too when their making the noises. I have never heard a captive-bred zon make those melodic sounds before, it's almost like an (amplified) birdsong and I find it quite beautiful and soothing (maybe I'm a little nuts though:30:). Tequila is a very handsome boy BTW.

Parker picked up his "calls" from Lola the bg macaw that miketn now owns and Charlie sounds like, well, I guess to put it lightly a woman having a good time if you catch my drift...The first time I heard it I just looked at my husband like did you hear that...we got her in July so her noises catch us off guard sometimes to say the least...lol

Oh, that is a cute noise. Your zon is singing.
It can get MUCH louder........ :)
My DYHA starts screaming really loud when she wants me to come back to birds room or she wants to be picked up. I have learned to know when it's coming, so I just take her with me before it happens and let her be part of what I am doing.
I have to wait till she changes her mind and starts talking ("hello", "how are you?", etc.) instead of screaming not to reinforce her loud screaming if she started already. Sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes. It gets REALLY loud, I have to close my windows.......... :)
Enjoy your zon's singing, it's so cute.

Must be fun with company there LOL:D

 Broadway watch out...Tequila is a rising star! :D

WOW...some set of lungs on him!

Hunter "can" sound like this, but she rarely goes all out, only when she is REALLY worked up.

Now Sam OTOH has started imitating Ripley's screeching, which definitely is not music to my ears. :32:

ParkersMom, I have thought the same thing about Tater...sometimes his noises sound a little bit uncomfortably "intimate."

Most of the time, he has kind of a "whiny pterodactyl" noise when being asked to do something he doesn't want to do. His "battle cry" is kind of a cheerful "boop boop" that he often just makes when flying around the house. He alternates that a lot with "uh oh!" "c'mere" and "good boy" in various garbled forms. He gets REALLY worked up watching dramatic tv shows like Walking Dead. He seems to really like the zombie noises and yelling.

She's singing an opera! Too funny!

Let see if my link works:
