I've been wondering on bringing a senegal into our home. At first, I was decided on an Alexandrian, but after months of searching, I couldn't find ONE reasonable price or location. I also decided that maybe it wasn't time for such a big bird. So then I met Tiki, the senegal. The owner says he is 2 years old (eyes are matured yellow), DNA'd male, talking and doing tricks, and very nice and friendly(he has pictures of Tiki's cuddliness. ;] ) and is asking $400 for him. He is moving to a different country, so nice ol' Tiki has to be rehomed. ;( Ok now I'm just blabbering... I think this is a reasonable price, or is it too much? I'm not really sure. Any help would be appreciated. I want to give Tiki a home. :)
Here's Tiki getting 'scratches'.

Maybe this was his 'roll over'...? Not sure...

i think that's reasonable, maybe a little high but see if they are open to negotiation. does he come with a cage and toys? I think if he is good for you and you hit it off ( you should meet him first) then its definitely worth it. After all, you cant put a price on a lifetime of friendship :).

Well I'm biased but you can't do better than a senee just watch the little guys cause they like to get bossy and the senee won't put up with it someone will get hurt. see if you can get him into a aviator harness so you can take him everywhere and no that is not unreasonable price they are a good mostly quite bird not neurotic and take change really well and are very smart. now I'm the one babbleing

I'm not sure where you are but in my town $400 is the price for a senegal with a cage, and that's for a 4 year old. I have seen three Senegals at that price so I think what they are asking for Tiki is a good price.
But remember, money doesn't buy happiness so both of you have to be happy with each other. It doesn't matter how much you pay if you aren't happy with each other.

No, he comes with just Tiki. :) Not sure why... I'll need to ask. But I'll see if he's up to negotiating. if not... oh well, I'll think I'll take him home anyway. I really wonder why the cage isn't included. Hmm. I'm two hours away from the owner, I need to see if I can just visit, and not actualy bring Tiki home. The more I think about this the more I fantasize about feeding the little guy my salads. ;) I fantasize a lot.

Funny, two people posted while I was figuring out what to type. :)

I can't help with the value of the bird but around here cages are commonly included with rehomed birds because it helps them so much with the transition. Kind of like a kid taking their security blanket. It gives the bird a familiar home in the middle of a new place.

Yes, I agree. I really want to ask why he's not letting Tiki keep his cage. I have a cage for him, but I'd think he'd be better with his familiar one.

XD Gosh, I forgot to hit post! I think I'll be taking him home if he seems to like me. If not, I think I'll try training him. I usually take in untame The ad has been on the site for almost a month now, nobody seems to bring the little guy home. Just need to call the owner and cross my fingers he hasn't sold little Tiki yet! I thimk I need to do cage shopping...NOW! I think I have already chosen a cage though. :) I keep on staring at the ad every 5 seconds. I I'll call soon, where I live it's too late to call anyone.
