Is this shampoo safe around parrots?

I just shampooed my hair with a new shampoo I got, Aussie, and after I got out of the shower I looked it up to see if it would really work for my hair, and surprise surprise! It apparently uses "toxic chemicals"
"The National Skincare Authority and Livestrong have both declared that consumers of Aussie products must be aware that Aussie uses toxic chemicals in its manufacturing process. The National Skincare Authority has rated Aussie Shampoo a 1.1/10, a highly toxic hair care product in the shampoo category of the Natural Hair Care Product Review."

And I heard that the smell is strong and sticks around for 2-3 days. I'm not going to be using this shampoo anymore, because I don't want that in my hair, but should I be concerned about its effect on my parrot? Can he be around the bathroom and my hair?

I use aussie all the time in the shower with Sootie perched and she's never shown any reaction to it!

Hi Happy, you can come up with some interesting questions, can't you.....

When you run into articles like this, that are patently decrying one product or another, you sometimes have to stand back and ask yourself if the information you are reading is really telling you what you think it is and although the link you posted, from this purported National Skin Care Authority...who are they and what are their credentials that allow them to make the claim(s) they are making?

To finally get to answers you can trust, you have to read through a lot of boring information that really has no bearing on the information you are seeking, but to get to what you're looking for, you have to ferret through the junk...that's what you've got here...a pretty boy body builder who found some financial backers (often product manufacturers that want to knock another product in favor of theirs.....in reading through the info on their link, a couple of things that need to be kept in perspective.....your Aussie shampoo was developed for & sold as a hair shampoo, probably without consideration of any effect it might have on companion birds, but then does the manufacturer need to check against potential dangers to our birds or would the assumption that we bird owners should have the common sense to not try to feed the shampoo to our bird(s) or use it to wash the bird(s).....

I appreciate that there are those who would believe that manufacturers need to do more research, but then who's to say what is enough research, so rather than continue with this thread, I like to think that when contravening information is offered, if that information cannot be verified by independent study, the contravening information is as suspect as the information that is being questioned/challenged.....

Although the formulas for many hair care products may contain ingredients that are dangerous, poisonous and/or carcinogenic, what are the individual quantities of these ingredients compared to the total volume of a given batch and whether the question becomes moot given the percentage compared to the total mixture ? ? ?

In short Happy, I think you & your feathered friend will be safe as long as you refrain from eating the shampoo, use it as directed & rinse the product out of your hair as the manufacturer directs.....

I do enjoy your questions, though you might be over thinking some of the things you worry about ! ! !
