Josie - blue and gold macaw
I just walked passed Josie's cage.. she has been asleep in her wreath w/her head tucked for a few hours now. I swear, it sounds like she is talking in her sleep. She flew a bit today and literally yelled, " help" and "look out" while she flew and that's what she was saying in her sleep. Is it possible that she is traumatized by today's new activity? She was less than graceful with her landing, but she did not get hurt.

Does she know those words normally? ("Help" and "look out")

I was actually curious to see if birds talk in their sleep?

It was late one night and i was just lying in bed and Fargo had been fast asleep for hours, then he suddenly said hello :/ hahaha

Maybe Josie was just dreaming that she was going for a fly again?

Sometimes birds are not actually asleep but appear that way and will practice the speech they have learned while in that state.

As for talking in their sleep, I don't see why not.
