Is This One Of Our Equestrian Members ? ? ?

That is a Friesian :)

My mum owns one.. Probably one of the most expensive horse breeds as well...

They are a breed you either love or hate... Personally I dislike the breed, I can appreciate them, but personal opinion of their structure (their short thick neck).. I prefer the warmblood look! :p

This is my mum's purebred friesian as a foal... When they get older they get nice and hairy haha :)

They're beautiful horses, powerfully built, with gentle sensitive spirits...

My all time favorite! (And practically free, right?!)

But I'm not rich. Nor do I live in any place appropriate for horses.

Nor do I particularly relish the thought of mucking out stables...

Cleaning up after parrots (and a teenager) is enough work.

So, nice fantasy, but...

Rachel had a beautiful all white Shire that was her favorite...

oh yeah mark that is another one that makes my heart all a flutter!!:d

i can see myself riding that one on some tropical beach somewhere... I love those horses with the fuzzy feet!

When I was very young about 16 I got the opportunity to ride a Clydesdale, no saddle of course and just a hackamore bit I still remember it as one of the most amazing rides of my life. Believe it or not there was no jolting bounce and it was the smoothest full run I ever experienced it was like we were flying! I begged for that horse but the family wouldn't sell her.:(

Hahaha come on guys, surely a Hanoverian is your dream horse! ;)

I LOVE shires, but my parents wouldn't pay 7000 dollars for a horse which was not practical... I want to do eventing, which a shire can not!

But I once rode a black 18hh shire, absolutely gorgeous!

My boy Klaatu, everyone assumes he is 50% friesian... No one can ever guess his breed.. People sometimes ask shire cross, warmblood cross :p
But he is a clydesdale cross :)

I know nothing about horses, but when we lived in Germany I saw the lipizzaner horses and thought they were amazing.

I have a soft spot for clydesdales, probably due to beer commercials :)

Gypsy Vanner for me too! Mark, have you seen Jeremy Irons' GV? He has a stallion and, apparently, he rides it all over Ireland justforkix. I always liked Jeremy Irons, but once I knew he owned GVs, that sealed it for me: he's my hero!

I once had a Welsh penfriend who bred Shire horses. I remember the day her stallion accidentally stood on her foot and crushed it. Euuuww! The photos were not pretty! Also, the shoes for those guys cost megabux and are massive iron constructions about an inch thick. If you think about it, most heavy horses are called on to work on paved roads and so they need heavy shoeing. Especially considering a lot of them have pink hooves.

My sister had an eventer who was a Quarter Horse/Clydesdale cross. She was a beautiful mare with walloping great forelegs that just pumped on forever and ever. She also did a nice dressage test, which we thought was odd. You wouldn't expect a heavy horse to be so agile, but the QH must have accounted for that. Her father was an eighteen-hand piebald Clydesdale with blue eyes. The owner's four-year-old could lead him about and ride him and generally get him to do whatever. He had the sweetest nature and the longest mane I've ever seen on a horse (and I've seen a few). At the time we visited, there was a paddockful of weanlings just begging to be taken home and cuddled! :)

For barefaced prettiness, I don't think you can go past an Arabian. They just have everything you could want in a horse and the faces are to die for! Andalusians have the Hair happening and Akhal Tekes have the amazing metallic coat... There really are all sorts of horses for all sorts of courses - and I love 'em all!

I make my living as an equine sculptor. Many beautiful breeds each with their special talents.

Wow! That's your work? It's amazing! If you have other works to show us, I'd dearly love to see pictures! :)

:). I am the owner of 3 Lipizzans. They are absolutely magnificent dressage horses and incredibly intelligent.
