I have this for my bedroom because it gets really hot and I don't do well with heat. I've run into a really bad spell of depression and I've been spending a lot of my time in bed and I haven't been giving Lincoln as much attention as i would like (my family has been giving him the attention he needs though which I'm really thankful for) and I wanted to start bringing him in my bedroom but I don't know if this AC emits anything that might be dangerous to him, I don't know if it emits anything at all. Anyone know anything about it?

it emits cool air. thats about it

the air will be drier than atmospheric air as the water in the air condenses on the AC coils, but I wouldn't worry.

There are no refrigerant losses, it's a closed system, and even it it broke the gases will be non-toxic.

that's what I thought but I know the devices have warnings about not handling it a certain way or it'll leak and I'm assuming it's referring to the coolant inside and wasn't sure if air passing through that to cool would be a potential problem.

Here is the actual product page fom the DeLonghi website:

Pinguino Portable Air Conditioner Remote Control PACAN125HPEKC | De'Longhi US

No where did I see anything at all that mentions whether or not this unit contains Teflon, or if it emits PFOA's or PTFE's, or anything about it being "Bird-Safe"...

Usually the best way to find this out is to actually call the manufacturer and specifically ask them:

-"Is this particular model Bird-Safe?"
-"Does this particular model contain Teflon coating?"
-"Does this particular model emit PFOA's, PTFE's, or any other harmful chemical fumes?"

***It's not just about it being a sealed-system, but they use these chemicals during the manufacturing processes, and often use Teflon coatings inside heaters, air conditioners, etc.

DeLonghi's customer-service phone number for air conditioning units is 1- (800) 322-3848...Be sure to have that model number handy...

my particular device does heat up but I never use the heat setting. I'll have to call them.

Yeah, when in-doubt, always call the manufacturer...I know it's not a space-heater or a blow-dryer, but you never know, anything that blows air from the inside of the machine may be a risk. Always better safe than sorry in this particular situation...

ended up emailing them since that's easier for me just means I have to wait a bit longer.

Hopefully you hear something positive from the manufacturer.

One thing to keep in mind would be changing / cleaning the filter fairly often and ensure that the condensate water drains off and does not form any mold inside the unit. I believe this type uses the warm air that is exhausted to the outside to evaporate the water and will most likely not be a problem.

got a reply and they said it releases no fumes.
