It's definitely a lovebird. I've never heard of one talking.

I'm sure others will pipe in soon.

Hi - this is a peach faced lovebird. Yes they prefer to be in pairs even the same sex. Is it tame? They don't talk

Where u from?

Everyone says they like being in pairs but i keep some on their own. If you working and away allot of the time it is best to keep a pair for company.

It is very difficult to tell u how to sex the bird as this is your first. There are many ways to tell.

What u have to feed it ?

Before you commit to keeping him try to find the home he was lost from, someone may be tirelessly searching for their beloved parrot and loosing hope. Set up fliers, do a online add, tell local avian vets.

just bought parakeet mix .. what kinds of fruit and vegetables does he eat :)

Most fruits and veggies are good like strawberries, bananas, peppers, green beans, cirn, carrots, blueberries, oranges, peas the list goes on and on but NO avacado, onion, garlic, coffe beans. Pellets and seeds mixed together along with fresh fruits and veggies is best for them. They do like to be in pairs but i suggest holding off on anither bird til this one is bonded to you and you get the hang of caring for him. They can learn to talk and they mimic whistles very well.

apples (no seeds), broccilli, sprouts, most vegetables

DO NOT GIVE IT Avocado Onions or Chocolate

You already got bunch of good advice above but I want to mention that they don't need to be in a pair. If he's friendly he will stay friendly as long as you don't give them a mate. It's a misconception just because they're named lovebirds they need to be as a pair.

True MikeyTN but if this new owner at work most of the day it will need some company if only another lovey or similiar bird

It can have company in another cage where they can see one another. They don't have to be in the same cage. It can be any other type of birds as it doesn't have to be a lovie.

thanks a lot :)
what about sleeping time .. do i have to cover his cage after certain clock or put him in dark place ?

You can cover if you want but I stop covering years ago. I'm up late so I usually have my birds up with me past midnight but usually have them all in bed by 1am or so. They'll nap during the day while I'm at work.

I'm another one who doesn't cover cages. During the week we're in bed by 10 and gone until around 5 pm for work. Weekends we stay up later. Hasn't been a problem for the birds.
