In this species ,I just took in this Eclectus [the owner doesn't know why people would want birds ] So of course hes with me [sweet guy] .He was born with his beak so off. But it also overgrows . She gets it trimmed every 6 weeks. Isnt that also meaning their lacking something in their diet? of course I will take him to the vet [But im really disappointed with are vets here] Anyone have experience with overgrown beaks?

He doesn't seem to lack of anything ... he is getting too much of something that might cause liver disease. He needs to go see a vet. Aloe Detox can sometimes cure liver problems. Aloe Detox is mainly aloevera leaf. Depending on where you live, aloevera plant grow fast and easy. Peal off the green on the outside and give him the gel inside.

-resurrects old topic-

If the beaks do not align, it's very easy for the beak to become overgrown. Charlie, my mitred conure, had a healthy beak for at least 11 years of his life. That all changed when he decided to bully a blind ruby macaw and got the short end of the stick. Two surgeries later and he's missing half of his lower beak.

Nine years later he can eat and drink just fine. Has trouble eating seeds (doesn't get seeds very often), but is otherwise just fine. He does however require frequent beak trims, which I usually do 'as needed'. His beak also scissors now.
