My first bird was a parakeet named Buddy (passed away November 8, 2012). My newest friend is a parakeet named Chipper.
My parakeet, Buddy, is a really cool, friendly little bird. He normally likes to be held and petted. If he's in a calm mood, I'll scratch him on his head and around his neck and I can tell when he likes it because he'll puff out his feathers on his head and turn his head like a cat. Sometimes he'll even close his eyes. Then he'll start gently nibbling on my fingers.

He's getting a little bit moody and cranky sometimes because he's molting. But his normal nature is to be very friendly.

Lately, he's been doing something hilarious. If he's in a good mood, he'll come up on my shoulder and start nibbling on my neck...and then he'll reach up to head and start nibbling on my hair. LOL...is he trying to "preen" me or something? :D

I'm a guy, although I don't think a bird knows or cares whether its human is a guy or girl. Anyway, I just thought that was so cute and hilarious that he's been doing that.

You are correct. I'm a guy too and Molly & Cody preen me daily! It's so cute and it tickles when the preen my ears. :)

So cute, just make sure that you don't have hair gel or anything. Birds never care if we're guys or girls , If you saw 2 men doing that to each over that would be crazy. Lots of birds are gay LOL

hehehe...yeah, I figured the bird wouldn't know or care what I was. And I know it's just a sign of affection and trust, like when a dog licks you. I'm just amazed that he trusts me so much. It's hilarious when he nibbles on my fingers or when he climbs up on my back and nibbles on my neck. His little beak tickles lol
