Is my bird in love with my cat?

I have a GCC. I also have four cats. The cats do not react much to the birds and vice versa. I have one cat, Baby, who often hangs on the couch with us. Libby my GCC likes to burrow into his fur, preen his ears, and push under his arms.

Today I noticed that she was bringing up food, right in front of his face. I don't think she was vomiting.

What's up with that? I've never seen her do that to anyone else.

Yes, they regurgitate food as part of the mating ritual or just to show love. It does sound like she loves the cat. She may see it as a potential mate, or just as a special friend. Usually male birds are more likely to actually bring up food, but females can do it as well.

Libby could be a male, we just went with female, no particular reason.

It's pretty cute. Is it normal for her regurg to smell fermented?

Not sure on the smell. My female birds have never brought anything up, or not all the way out. So far Pete will swallow his back down. A breeder here might know. I would not be surprised though as it's been digesting in the crop, and vomit certainly smells in us and other animals.

Well, Pete does it when he's showing hormonal behavior, so if he does that while he is on me, I put him back on his cage or tower. He was courting me, so I've been discouraging any romantic attempts at me on his part, lol! So I have not smelled it. As soon as he starts his mating dance, he gets put on something other than me, lol! I don't want him to think of me as his mate.

Yes that's the smell! Just becareful when they get attached to your other animals over you. I got bit by my macaw cause he was attached to one of the dogs. Separate them if you must.

Yes, I was wondering about that. I did not think she was old enough to become sexually mature (she is less than a year) but we will keep an eye on it. Baby does not reciprocate her love (he did try to lick her today but I took her away) and does not hang on the couch often so hopefully this is just a passing fancy.

It is SO cute. I tried to get some photos but Libby likes to pose for pictures so as soon as she sees the camera she turns and does her pretty face. See?

That's so sweet. Rowdy won't pose for pictures, lol! She didn't used to mind the camera that much, but lately she screams at it and comes running at it, and then whatever cute thing I was trying to get a picture of is ruined. I'm not sure when she went from ignoring it to wanting to attack it, but these days she wants to attack it.
