You tell me.

Don't know about the drug part, but a friend of mine has a 43 year old goffin that has had a cap full of coffee every morning all of his life and he's doing fine. He raises a fuss until he gets it, then he's fine. Kinda like me in the morning until I get my coca cola. :green1:

i dont know but caffene is on the no no list about every one i have seen

Yes caffeine is horrible for birds. No, you should not take Red very seriously - it's witty commentary to the video, not the fact of the situation!

Sometimes it's enjoyable to see how long people wonder if his birds really or addicted to caffeine, but I don't want the more gullible side to get the idea that it's okay for birds to try.

When I got my first African Grey from a breeder, his first words were never feed a bird avocado pear - coffee and chocolate EVER

Not all foods are good parrot foods. It has often been said that parrots can eat just about anything that we humans can eat, this is just not the truth. It would be a wise decision, to forget that what tastes good to you must also taste good for your parrot. Many foods are just unable to be digested well by the parrot and may lead to an upset gastrointestinal tract. There are also many foods that are poisonous to some birds.
Some of the things that you should try to avoid feeding your bird in large amounts is anything that contains high amounts of sugar (if however you have a Lory, it's okay as it is a bird species that normally consumes a lot of sugar). Sugar tends to help the growth of yeast, which can be troublesome to your parrot. A yeast infection is a common ailment which can appear around the mouth and the gastrointestinal tract in your bird. By not supplying your bird with a large amount of sugar you will therefore reduce the chance of this infection. Despite this, if your parrot happens to get a yeast infection, you should go to your veterinarian and follow their instructions.
Another product to look out for our milk products, these are also not good to feed to your birds in large amounts. Milk also contains sugar, which is known as lactose. This is a problem as birds cannot digest it and means that the sugar sits in the gut where it for ferments, which can lead to a nasty case of diarrhoea.
Two more products that you should never give your bird are avocado and chocolate. There have been reported deaths due to these foods being fed to one's bird. However, for some strange reason, bird owners have been known to feed their birds avocado and chocolate without any ill effect. We are not sure why these two products can affect different bird so drastically, but how advise would be not to take the chance, I mean do you really want to play Russian roulette with your bird?

Birds, same as a lot of other companion animals don't process caffeine (or any other stimulant for that matter) well and it can be toxic to them. It depends on the quantity. We don't know what it is for birds but the lethal dose of caffeine for dogs and cats is 150mg/kg body weight. So, it is possible for a large bird (or dog or cat or whatever) to consume a small amount without dying but I would never risk it.

Chocolate and cocoa also have a stimulant that is bad for them, only it's called theobromine and it's the same thing as with caffeine, it depends on the quantity but, again, I am VERY strict when it comes to my birds diet and they never get anything that could be bad to them. Not even a little taste!

well I cant keep up the straight face.
The reason for the excitement is not the coffee, although he does sip from my cup from time to time..Its the fact that I just polished the coffee machine, and he can see himself in it.
Watch it again.

Got it that time!!! That was good. He sure is a cutie.

Red...I love to watch your videos. He's a very funny bird. I was curious though...what is his problem with the spoon? :p

We all think that was very funny, and i have a goffin that acts just like your bird. we have a triton that drinks out of our coffiee cups in the morn 2, and he loves it.

People who don't have birds think they just sit prettily in their cages. My friends and coworkers are amazed when I talk to them about the antics of our Max and Jade.
