Hey Everyone! I'm kind of freaking out and don't know if this is normal!
Today I bought a baby yellow Indian Ring neck I was told he's probably around 10 weeks but he looks 5 weeks old, he was in his cage with one other IRN. I have been around a lot of birds but this is my first bird at home. In the cage he was not running around he seemed very calm, when ever he tried to move he couldn't stand up he would kind of crawl. Meanwhile, the other bird was up and running. I chose this bird because I know babies can act weird and didn't think it was a big deal. However, he has been home for about 6 hours and still wiggles around like that.... IM FREAKING OUT!!! He doesn't seem injured but he is very scared; every time I go up to the cage to see him he freaks out and wiggles away. I feed him his formula tonight and he ate great ! However he's still having trouble standing up completely he doesn't even look like he's trying? But when I hold him upright he's able to hold his head up? Is this normal ??? He's really young?? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yellow2:

At five weeks old your baby probably doesn't yet have the balance, coordination and muscle strength to perch. If he is only five weeks old he still has a lot of growing and developing to go. I recommend you get both of your birds checked out by an avian vet just to make sure your babies are healthy and strong. if you could show us some photos that would be helpful also. good luck with your new babies. :blue2: :)

Ok, calm down. Some babies are slow to get the whole walking and perching thing. Just like in any group, some develop faster, some slower. Give her a few days.
Approach the cage until she freaks out and then take 1 step back. Next time go just a bit closer and take one step back. In a few days she will be OK with you next to the cage. Welcome to the parrot boards. Please omelet your profile and tell us a bit more about yourself and your birdie.

My apologies, but from the sounds of it, you should probably return the baby and get a weaned chick. If you aren't experienced with raising birds, your first bird should *never* be an unweaned bird!
