Hi, My name is Magdi and I live in NJ. I just lost my beloved parakeet and now I need another companion and would love to have African Grey. I will post a request to other members for help later. thanks

Welcome and be welcomed. I am sorry for the loss of you lil parakeet. I hope you take the time to really research the different species to find one that seems to fit your life - but remember each parrot is his/her own individual and many times a general comment about a species may not prove true for the individual. Africn Greys who never say a word, hot 3 Amazons who are *****cats, gregarious canary wing parakeets who seem to hate people. And all baby parrots will go thru puberty, which can seriously alter how they behave during and after - does that happen every time - no! But it does.

We advocate adoption, there are far more parrots than homes, and the adult parrot has passed thru puberty and their disposition is not likely to change much. But how ever you decide, we are glad you're here. Join the party!

Welcome welcome!

My husband and I have a Green Cheek conure (our first fid) and an African Grey. I have zero regrets about getting Trigger but I would warn you it's a huge step up in difficulty. If having a Green Cheek conure is like being in the first grade of elementary school, an African Grey is like starting medical school. :p

Welcome to the forums, Magdi. My deepest condolences for the loss of your parakeet.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my sweet bird last month..I'm going through Mickaboo Bird Rescue to adopt another bird.

Hello Magdi, welcome to the Parrot Forums.

I am so sorry for your loss. :smile016:

I am very happy you decided to join us.

You have received some good advice.

I reseached for years before deciding on a Grey. Than, I reseached for a few more years prior to getting Levi.

I read (books/magazines/forums/blogs) and watched videos etc.. anything and everything I could get my hands on.

I thought I was well prepared, until I joined the PFs. I've learned more here than anywhere else. That is why, I am so glad you joined us.

Best of luck to you and please keep us posted.
