I just found this forum during my search for parrot information today from Afghanistan. Currently, I am deployed and anxious to return home this fall. It has been tough being away from the family but believe it or not even tougher being away from "Bella" my Blue & Gold MaCaw.
She and I are inseperable and skype often. Believe it or not she knows my voice and interacts with me via skype. She goes everywhere with me, is potty trained, and will be entertaining others with me once I return. I have a walk in aviary for her on our pool deck inside the lanai but she sleeps in a pillow nest my wife made on the back of the couch and plays with her toys on the window sill during the evening. She never leaves the back of the couch. She needs to roost at night as she is crippled and cannot perch like other parrots. She can move quickly around her aviary, climb ropes, and fly but cannot perch or walk so she is extra reliant on us for her care. I'll post pictures soon. I plan on setting up a large parrot lodging facility when I return home so I will keep all Florida parrot owners informed. Greg
