brought home my 4 month old ringneck Santo.
I've seen it eat and drink, so that's a good thing. Had it out of the cage for about a half hour handling it. My question is it has taken 3 naps already today. is this normal?

My sennies nap on and of throughout the day. I'd say it's normal unless there's other things going on.

So long as there is no sneezing, diarrhea, loss of appetite, your bird should be fine. Young birds do nap during the day. Us old birds do too!

Both my young ringnecks can be seen napping most of the day unless something cool is happening around them. In fact, so can my dog!

anyone have any tips. I took it out of the cage and handled it twice for around 1/2 hour each time. no real issues with biting just nips. what's a good time in hours to spend handling a new ringneck each day. tomorrow I'm planning on at least 3 hours. is that not enough or to much?

It really depends on the bird. Try to read his body language and see what he wants.

Congrats! I also recently brought home a baby IRN! Sounds like you've been luckier than me with the handling, good for you! My Adrian is a pretty bad biter but she is totally adorable otherwise. Keep the updates and pics coming!

I can press my finger up against it's chest without it nipping my finger. Should I just keep doing this until it will or try to force it to come up? I'm interested in knowing, because I'm planning on working with it all day today and tomorrow. And I mean all day!!
