We have added two new members to our household- Two, eight week old Great Pyrenees puppies! They join our two cats, Saruman and Gandalf, and our chihuahua Taco along with the Amazing Charlie the Birdie and Little Bird. Introductions are going slowly with the puppies. Charlie and Little bird predate the cats, who are just over a year old. The cats are curious about the birds but they have learned that too much curiosity will lead to a squirt with a spray bottle. The chihuahua is oblivious to the birds and the cats and pretty much the whole world. The puppies sniff the cages and I don't think they have really even noticed the birds but I like all my household to get along (always under supervision). Interactions will be slow and gradual, of course, but I wonder if any one on this forum has any techniques or tips to share.

Sob...no photos of your new Great Pyrenees pups? :( They have got to be THE most adorable white bundle of fluffs. :)

I don't foresee you having problems with the dogs with Charlie & Little Bird. Great Pyrenees are famous for their gentle nature towards children, also GREAT guardians of lifestock. Are they getting along with your cats already, or are the cats still really cautious? What does Taco think of the new family members?

Of course all puppies can be rather rambunctious and too curious for their own good, but these guys are really so easily trained.

Please...can we (I) see some pics of the new babies??? :D

There, puppy pix are loaded. Aren't they the cutest, roly-poly, balls of fluff?! They are about eight and a half weeks old now and they are growing so FAST! We used to raise Great Pyrenees so I know what wonderful dogs they are. I wanted to get a dog that would suit our household and be gentle with all our other pets and these two will do wonderfully! The cats are surprisingly tolerant of the puppies although they have taken to the tops of the furniture rather than submitting to a lot of wet puppy kisses. Charlie hasn't really deigned to notice them much which is probably a good thing given the puppies high energy levels and excited, clumsy greeting of everything new! Taco Bell, the chihuahua, does NOT like puppies. He is like some grumpy old man yelling at kids to "get off my lawn" whenever they get near him. Charlie has learned to ignore Taco since Taco is oblivious to Charlie completely. Little bird whistles to the dogs which confuses them and makes them tilt their heads to try and find out where the whistle is coming from. I think Little bird is amused at their confusions because she laughs after she whistles (or it could be she is imitating us because the puppies reactions are so funny that WE laugh) The puppies are named Griffon (Grif for short) and sister (which we pronounce as seastar because my kids are nuts!) So now my household is complete and we have Two birds, two cats, two dogs, an almost sort of dog-like chihuahua, three daughters still at home and one mom who is crazy enough to like chaos!

Oh TOO cute!!:) I've never seen black on a Pyrenees! Wow, that's two HUGE new family members... along with your "sort of dog-like" Chihuahua!
