Introducing new birds

Would people like to share any stories/experiences with introducing a new bird (Amazon or other) to one or more Amazons? Like when you had fewer birds, how was it different from having several? How was it when introducing birds of different ages? What are the species, ages and genders of the birds and did they get on well? I know they are individual and it can go just about any way, but I like hearing how things have gone.

I've read on several sites about introducing birds to each other generally. But I enjoy hearing about people's personal experiences too, and don't seem to run across as much of that, especially with different species and ages.

Im interested in this on its own, but also because I have a seven-month BFA female and sometime later would like to add an older rescue or two. Leaning toward a smaller Amazon female or larger conure, as long as the bird clearly chooses me like she did. But it won't be super soon so will see how it goes.

Thank you ahead of time!

IME Amazons either like a newcomer or they don't. Yes, it's that simple. :)

I've been extremely fortunate. My hen YN is a VERY laid back, easy to get along with bird. She was great with a Caique I had, even though the little Caique truly beat her up. Hunter was also great with a male Magna whom I lost much too soon. Then she got along with a pair of Red Sided Eclectus. Currently she is good friends with my nearly 4 year old Magna male.

I won’t allow my Amazons to interact with my big macs, as that would have a very unhappy ending for them.

My male Magna, OTOH thinks he’s the boss. He WILL fly caprioles around the big macs’ heads, in an attempt to tick them off. I have to be really careful when they’re all out. Since Sam is fully flighted, he’s also been known to land on the big macs’ cages and taunt them.

Yeah, I would love a couple macs, but with my current space, it's not in the cards.

I did have a chance to notice my zon's reactions to a lot of different birds. I visited her 3 -5 times a week for a month to bond before bringing her home. During that time we walked around the bird store a lot and I saw her behavior as we passed or stood to watch many birds. She was uneasy around macaws so I gave them a wide berth. She also drew her feathers in and got still around a mature DYH. She actively disliked baby eclectus and baby Greys, and especially a rainbow lorie. She didn't mind any other zons she was around, and was relaxed around a nanday and the sun conures, but I find their particular screech voices a little grating. I haven't minded some other types of conure voices I've heard through YouTube cruising, though I found that Patties are illegal in my state for some reason.
