Parrots
Odin - CAG
Salty- Hahn's Macaw
Greenie - Eclectus
Lexi- Eclectus
So I was browsing Craigslist a few days ago, and one of the nearby area results was a female eclectus in the barter section.
WILL TRADE OR BARTER FOR THIS PARROT, IT HAS A LARGE CAGE ON WHEELS LOTS OF TOYS, FEEDER BOWLS AND DRINK BOWLS, DOWNSIZING AND NEED TO MAKE SOME ROOM
We love Greenie so much we've kinda been throwing around the idea of getting another. So I emailed asking for more info about her, was told she was 8 yrs old, she's a good girl and you can handle her, bought her for the grandkids but they had lost interest, she used to talk but has stopped since the kids dont talk to her much anymore.

I asked what they were looking to get for her.... an atv, small car or boat. Well I dont have any of those things, decided to ask what they wanted cash, figured with what they wanted to trade for it would be quite a lot.... $400. was shocked it was so low

So we jumped in the van for an hour and a half drive. We get there,
the husband went to get her and she didn't want to step up, so he just picked her up brought her out and set her on his hand. he cuddled her and pet her and she hung upside down from his hand.

She's been eating mostly a seed diet (no sunflower seed though but definitely had more dyes than need be), some fresh foods. She's not a plucker but has bald spots around her eyes.

her name is Lexi

She loved her breakfast... she dug right in and ate almost everything. Hopefully she'll start looking even better with a better diet.

She's beautiful and very fortunate she will be loved now. It never ceases to amaze me that parrots in less than desirable circumstances can come away looking so perfect. She must have an iron constitution and steady nerves. May she have a very long, happy life with you.

Also, just an FYI, the band may not necessarily show her age...I looked up my girl's band number and it has nothing to do with the year she was born.

So excited, Lexi just said "pretty bird" Up til now she'd just made a few squawks and they told us she used to talk but had stopped, so hopefully that means she settling in and likes it here. She's easy to handle, is a good eater, and is happy to come out of her cage in the mornings

congrads she is beautiful :)

A big congrats. on your ekkie Lexi. She is gorgeous & that is a good sign with re-homed Eclectus or her age.

How does Greenie like having Lexi around? I know it is too soon to introduce her to the flock, but I bet they all know a new girl is in town.

She is a pretty girl, when you get a close look at her you can tell her feathers arent in the best shape but I think a better diet will fix that, she loves her fresh foods so no fighting to get her to eat them
. We've really gotten lucky with all our birds, all rehomes and not to many issues, although Salty is a little special lol

Greenie hasn't really acted any different.. still his usual silly chatty self.
