Secret & MC, two blue front amazons
Okay folks - need some help. Secret, one of my adopted/rescued blue fronts has me bewildered again.

We've been taking steps backward. Due to bites, I've resorted back to the T stick for all bird handling. I do still let her stand on my leg, ask her to step up on T stick and then reward her with a treat. Last evening when I tried having her step on and off of the cage door later in the evening, she tried coming down the stick for me (not in a good fashion either).

I noticed last night she is now back to clinging in the corner of the cage facing the living room with her face crammed into the corner. She didn't want to come out or bend over for a head scratch either. I've weighed her - weight is okay. Her blood tests were fine after the 2nd test so I'm not thinking that is an issue.

I've heard that chamomile tea (only chamomile/no other ingredient in it) can be added to their water. I've sent off for a book to read up on that. I also had someone tell me ages ago that a hut would help Secret feel secure. I think the avian hut doesn't have a bottom, it just hangs over a perch.

Her cage (actually DNA says it's a him) - is on a remote wall in the main dining area. She's part of the action but not walked by constantly.

Any thoughts on either of these issues? It's been about a year now. The other zon is making strides but I refuse to give up on Secret. There's a warm fuzzy bird under there (or in Amazon lingo-one that will tolerate me more).

there's something that bothers that bird,i know what you mean about hanging in the corner. You've had her for a year and this is something new or has it always been like that.Did it start when you moved the cage or added something to his cage?

Secret used to hang in the corner a lot even during the day. Secret had been spending more time on the perches & up on the soft fabric perch at the top, even to sleep. Lately though, it looks like we're back to the corner. Not sure if I added any more toys, there's a rod in her cage (for food but I often put wood on it) - and a few small leather strips that hold toys. Not really anything "new". We did change a filter in the BlueAir machine from carbon to a regular filter a few weeks to a month ago.

Have it always been the same corner he goes to? Can you turn the cage? To see if he still goes to that corner or the new corner now facing that way. I find a game of elimination can help work out what might be going on. I have just moved my Quakers cage as they where screaming mid afternoon for what we thought was no reason but we work out they didn't like the light coming that way in the afternoon it was making shadows on the wall from out side and scaring them.
