Syd, our Citron Crested Cockatoo is going to be 26 on Halloween this year. He was 10 when I first met my husband. Syd had his "dad" well trained.
After my husband died, I became Syd's primary carer. It has been a work in progress, but we've made great strides.
My favorite thing Syd does is when my teenage daughter comes downstairs and he greets her in the most excited voice. That's what her dad used to do when he'd see her coming down the stairs, so it's like her father's love keeps on giving through the bird.
