In search of a reputable breeder

I've been online looking for a long time now searching for a reputable breeder. But, every time I feel like I'm getting close to finding one, it's a scam. I currently live in Alaska in the Air Force. So, not too many breeders here for a macaw, none that I've found actually.

I'm looking for a hybrid macaw, a Harlequin or a Scarlet Macaw. If anyone could point me in the direction of a reputable breeder I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I'll check it out.

We got a red front macaw from Wendy's parrots in TX about 10 years ago, I'd highly recommend her (scarlets, red front and blue throat)

Nowadays it's pretty easy to get birds shipped. But if you're looking for something closer to you than Florida or Texas, there's Beakers Parrot Place in Washington. You can essentially 'order' a Harlequin or Scarlet from them and they get the babies unweaned (a few weeks old) from their breeder network and essentially handfeed it until it is weaned and you can take it home. Some people are against their methods of getting babies but essentially you would be getting the same thing only closer to you. You could even visit it as its weaning and grow your bond with it before you take it home with you.

I also really like Birdie Brains Aviary in Virginia, they have a great website and great looking birds. I also almost always check Hoobly (a classifieds site) daily for macaws. There may be some in your area or in the Oregon/Washington area that you could look into, too. Hope that helps a little!!
