Cockatiels - Oz & Kaila
Hello people!

So, I currently live with my parents until I go away to university in the fall or next year and now they've decided to renovate the kitchen. We're talking paint, lots and lots of dust and all that and I'm worried it could be dangerous for my tiels.

The thing is, my sister is going to England for three weeks and ask me to go cat sit at her apartment, so I could move the tiels there for the three weeks and just live there instead of commuting for there, to work, to school and to home to care for my lovelies.

The question is, should I just move them to the basement (would the move there and then back in such a short time be too stressful to be worth it) or will that not be enough?

I'm personally leaning towards the full three weeks move to my sister's place, but I want to be sure I make the best possible decision for the birds.

If I do move for three weeks, what precautions should I take about the move and about my sister's cat? (My own cat is old and never bothers the birds when they're in their cages so I don't mind letting him into my room when I'm away or at night, but my sister's cat is younger and just loves her feather toy...)

Thanks!

I keep my cats away from my bird. We recently finished the bird room/office and have Kyo's flight cage in there where we can close the door when we are at work and keep the cats away from her.

We don't let the cats around her when she is out either. We are going to start to try to allow the cats around her cage under our supervision, but so far one of them is just WAY too desperate to go into hunting mode for my liking. Our other one couldn't give a flying crap about the bird and runs away when the bird makes noise.

In short, it depends on the cat. I would err on the side of caution either way.
