Mango-Pineapple Green Cheek Conure
Hello all, my name is Lisa and my husband and I are at the very beginning stages of acquiring a conure. I fell in love with a Sun Conure one day about a year ago at the local Petsmart. He came right up to the bars on the cage so I could touch him. I started to look into adopting one back then, but life got in the way.

Now that I've done more research, I'm planning to adopt a Green-cheeked conure. I like the pineapple, but my husband is partial to the turquoise.

I've already decided on the cage...the HQ Flight Cage. Also, I'm pretty sure I want to purchase from M&D Bird World in Delaware. Does anyone have any experience with them? They're about a 3 hour drive from our home in Baltimore, but they will Skype with you so you can pick out your baby :rainbow1: I'm hoping to put a deposit on an unweaned baby so he/she can be mine from the beginning! They allow you 15 days once the baby is weaned to pick up.

So the plan right now is to hopefully purchase the cage this week, and contact the store to see what their availability is. So far I've just been doing a lot of research, but I'm ready to take the plunge!

I can't wait to share pictures and stories like the ones I've been enjoying from all of you :)

Hello Lisa and welcome! I am in Canada so have no experience with MD Bird World, but wanted to say I am happy you have joined us!

Welcome and an early congrats on ur future baby. :) I also have a GCC. Her name is Kiwi and she is a yellow sided. I spoil her and love her so much. lol she bring a lot of happiness to me and my husband's lives. Hope your baby does the same.

Welcome!! I say get one of each, they actually are beautiful together :) my daughter has 2 GCCs and they happen to be those very colors.

Gcc are awesome little birds but are not quite a sun. We have a young sun too and he is my favorite next to my bare eyed baby. But the GCCs are credited with converting me to being a bird fan :)

I do not know the breeder, but check them out on birdbreeders.com to see what their feedback is. I can highly recommend birdiebrains in Va and Amys in Chambersburg, pa. We are in Pa (I am originally from Baltimore). We drove 5.5 hours each way to birdiebrains to pick up Loki. Otherwise have you considered a rescue or shelter adoption?

Heres our GCCs, see how great the colors work :09:
